It's so calming

It's so calming. He could literally feel the tension leaving his body, this is exactly what he needed in a tightly packed week. Ritika freaking Sajdeh would be managing him-god dammit.

Rohit groaned in frustration as he opened his eyes before shutting them tightly again. Even meditation didn't help when his mind was clouded by her.

After the dinner at Virat's place, Ritika and Rohit had made their way to his study room to have a chat and finalise the things. Surprisingly it went smooth and no snarky remarks were made at each other. Rohit was quite surprised with the professionalism both had displayed and it had given him tiny bit of hope that they could function somewhat amicably.

But now that the decision and it's outcomes had finally settled in, Rohit wanted to hit himself in the head for his stupidity.

He knew it was stupid of him to be stuck on the same night for years now but the way her skin had felt under his rough hands, Rohit had to gulp the old feelings resurfacing.

"do you think it's right?" she muttered as she played with the hair on his nape.

"does it feel wrong?" he asked before pressing a slight kiss on her collarbone.

"your phone is ringing. Tumhala eku yet nahi ki kay?" Vishal rolled his eyes before flinging his phone at Rohit.

[can't you hear or what?]

It almost hit Rohit in the face before he caught it.

Mahi bhai

"are you okay bhai?" Rohit immediately shot as the question as he pressed the phone to his ear.

"yes. What would happen to me?"

"you called me first. Willingly, sometimes I forget you even have a phone," Rohit grinned cheekily.

"I have called you today as a captain."

Rohit's spine instantly straightened at the mention. He clutched the TV remote lying next to him in support. Everything had taken a toll on him in some way and even if he would try and disagree, he had started feeling a bit anxious anytime anyone brought cricket related.

He knew he should probably talk to somebody but he didn't know how to voice it out yet. He felt vulnerable and like a weakling and in a competitive sport like cricket, there was no space for withering people.

"I met Abhishek (Nayar) and he was telling me about the good progress you have been making recently. We also saw your innings recently in the Ranji and I just wanted to tell you that I'm really proud of you and the board is considering you to join the squad for the next tour. "

Rohit's heart thumped harder in his chest. Him in the Indian blues again? A flame lit up in his eyes, this time he was going to make the most of it.

" we all fail at times Golu but the ones who are brave enough to stand up and take a chance again are the only ones who succeed in life," his mother spoke warmly as she fed him his favorite food.

And Rohit was going to make the most of it. He didn't care which position he was alloted, he only wanted to pad up and bat till everything else blurred up except cricket in his veins.

"you'll recieve the official mail soon, I wanted to let you know first. Can't wait to have you back in the team Ro," MS concluded, his tone proud and fond.

"I-thank you MS," Rohit gulped the emotions gurling up again,"I'll not let the team down."

Mahi frowned slightly as Rohit put the phone down. He had been worried slightly about the kid. Rohit wasn't the most expressive ever but recently something nagged in him that Rohit was hiding certain things from him.

Undoubtedly he was faring well in cricket but MS was concerned he was neglecting his own well being and emotions in the process. Maybe Virat knew something, he needed to talk to him, MS concluded, when he gets back with his second family.

Rohit took a deep breath again, he was been given a chance to prove himself again, life was not always rainbows and sunshine and he didn't need anything to distract him from his goal now.

.....

"you're scheduled for a shoot on Monday," Ritika directed over the phone, "and you're leaving for South Africa on Thursday."

Rohit hummed, "anything else?"

Ritika frowned slightly at the blandness but shrugged, "no, that's it."

"okay cool."

Ritika heard the beeping sound of the call being cut next.

'what's wrong with him? He has more mood swings than a pregnant woman,' she muttered to herself.

......

"tune sab pack kar liya hai na? I won't share a thing with you," Virat warned as he was sprawled on Rohit's bed like his own.

[you packed everything no?]

"ha na, chal ab."

[yes, come on let's go.]

.......

"fuck I forgot my charger."

"ROHIT."

.......
