Chapter Three — Trust Building
Hailee's POV:

TRUST. I HAD TO gain her trust back. It knew that it wouldn't be easy - no matter how forgiving my girl can be - trust is a fragile thing. When you break it, you can repair it, but it won't ever be the same again. I'm learning that the hard way. I'm pretty sure I lost all respect Y/N's dad ever had for me. He's a scary guy, don't get me wrong. Her sisters can be too.

Andrew and I have been hanging out in the pool shed at my house. I have yet to see my parents and my brother, I just know they've got a ton of things to say.

"Sylvia wants space from me." Andrew broke the agonizing silence between us. He's been throwing the same old tennis ball up in the air for 20 minutes straight while lounging back on the poolside chairs.

"How long?" I asked curiously.

"I don't know." Andrew sighed and dropped the ball to his side, sitting up while resting his arms on his knees. "But, I'd wait forever for her." We both knew how genuine that sentence was. "What about you? How's Y/N handling this?"

"Well, but I feel like if I say or do the wrong thing, she might burst." I confessed while making eye contact with my best friend. "She forgives but never forgets. And trust is hard to earn back."

"I hear you on that."

I left the pool shed and allowed Andrew to have some privacy. Because Sylvia wants space, I'm letting him stay in the pool shed. He's like that one guy in the movie Sing who lives in the pool shed.

I slowly trotted inside the house through the back door, my breathing was louder than normal, but only because of how deadening the silence was. Y/N hasn't exactly left our bedroom for the longest time so I've been staying on the couch, too afraid to go up there and win my girl back.

"Come in." Her soft voice calls for me after I place my knuckle on the door to lightly knock. I hesitate for a moment before opening the door, peaking my head through the crack. Y/N shut her book to look at me.

"Uh, I was just going to make something to eat, did you want anything?" I asked like a shy kid. I looked pathetic; I didn't even know who I was anymore, all I cared about was making sure not to ever hurt Y/N like that again.

"No, I'm good, Hailee." That's another thing - my name. Yeah, she hasn't used any pet names as of recently. It's been Hailee this and Hailee that. I'm growing more afraid each day because of it. This is how I lose the girl. My girl.

"O-Okay." I nodded and exhaled shakily, shutting the door but her voice stopped me. "What'd you say?"

"Come here." Y/N gestured to the edge of the bed. I blinked a couple times before sitting down. My body tensed up and I looked like a scared teenager sitting beside her. Y/N snorted under her breath, grabbing my bicep and pulling my body against hers. "I said come here not stay away."

I smiled when she laid back, pulling me on top of her. "I could crush you, you know?" I joked lightly but my girl simply ignored my statement.

"Hailee." Y/N lifted my face up, holding it in her hands with a soft look in her eyes. "You don't have to be scared to lose me." Our faces inched closer, her fingers dancing under my jaw, keeping me as close as impossible to her. "You could never lose me, no matter what."

A fiery kiss was formed between us — it's been a little minute since we kissed and it felt like butterflies were being released a thousand times over in my stomach. Her hands traveled down to the base of my neck holding it firmly. I fell more on top of her my own hands slipping under her shirt to feel the soft skin of her small rolls on her stomach.

"Been waiting forever to do that." Y/N breathed out with a smile, her eyes full blown with desire and joy. I'm pretty sure my eyes were the same way.

I chuckled and quickly kissed her forehead, collapsing back down against the bed next to her. My hands stayed under her shirt though, I felt like I needed to stay as close as possible to her or else... I'd lose her. Even if she said I could never lose her.

"Hm, let's get some sleep, my dear." I commented in a terrible British accent. Y/N laughed and kissed my cheek several times before laying down beside me, back to my front as I spooned her from behind. "Perfect." I whispered as I turned the light off.
