In approximately 20 minutes, I, Sydney Didde, would be arriving at the college of my dreams, UCLA. All the countless hours of studying have finally payed off, literally, as I was basically getting a full ride to pursue my dream of becoming a Marine Biologist. I smiled at the thought, as I looked out the window in awe at the beautiful scenery, palm trees and busy streets, much different from the boring flatlands of my home state, Kansas. Another reason I was so excited for college; I was finally getting out of Kansas. Don't get me wrong, the sunsets are beautiful, but the state I call home simply couldn't fulfill my aspirations.
Suddenly, my moms jam packed minivan came to a halt and I knew we had finally arrived, after 22 dreadful hours in the car. I pulled down the mirror and checked my dark brown hair one more time, along with my makeup, as I tried my best not to let my nerves get the best of me.
Slowly, I opened the squeaking car door, revealing what would be my home for the next several years. My eyes widened as they gazed over the beautiful site before me. A huge building stood in front of me as hundred of students hustled in and out of it. I felt an arm wrap around my shoulders, and I looked to my left to see my mom.
"Let's get you checked in," she smiled, but I could tell she was upset.
Of course she was happy! I got into my dream college, and even more happy that it's full ride! She's just upset that I was going to be so far away from home.
I grabbed my bags as we walked towards the check-in table, where I would find out my dorm number.
"Name please?" A girl with light blonde hair asked me.
"Sydney Didde," I replied.
"Ah yes, welcome to UCLA! I'm Rachel, and you are staying in dorm B49."
"Thanks!" I gave her a soft smile as I grabbed my key and headed towards the dorms.
"Honey, why don't you head to your room, and I'll make sure all your registration is done. I'll catch up with you later." my mom said.
"Okay mom, I love you, bye!" I gave her a kiss on the cheek, bidding her farewell.
I struggled with my bags, the walk to the dorms seemed to be miles away, and the fact that I was completely out of shape wasn't helping. I continued my journey when all of a sudden, this guy on a skateboard came crashing into me, causing me to fall to the ground.
"Michael what the hell!"
I groaned as I looked up to see where the voice came from, only to see a tall blonde boy with blue eyes and his hair in a quiff, extend his hand to help me up.
"Please excuse my friend Michael" the guy said with a chuckle as he glanced at a boy with red hair, who just seconds before crashed into me.
"I am so sorry," the boy with the bright hair was quick to apologize.
"I'm Luke..." the blonde boy flashed me a smile as he outstretched his hand.
"Sydney" I smiled as I shook his hand.
"...and that would be Michael." he pointed to his friend who was still sitting on the ground after the little incident. The red haired boy rolled his eyes at his friend as he started to stand up.
"So are you a freshman?" Luke asked.
"Yep!"
"Cool! So am I. I would be a sophomore, but I decided to take a year off, and just have a little break from school. So what's your major?"
"Marine Biology, you?"
"I don't really know yet, I'd like to do something with music though," the boy ran his fingers through his hair as he spoke.
"Well it was nice meeting you, but I should really be getting to my dorm, hopefully I'll see you around?" I was eager to meet my roommate so I tried to subtly hurry up the conversation.
"You too! What dorm room are you in?" he asked, shooting me a genuine smile.
"B49"
"Cool! I'm in C27, so we aren't too far," he simply replied.
"Awesome! Well I'll see you guys later, bye Luke, bye Michael!" I picked up my bags as I waved goodbye to the two boys.
After walking for another 5 minutes, I finally arrived at the dorms. I went up to the second level where all the "B" rooms were, and began my search for room B49. It wasn't too hard to find, as I soon found myself standing in front of a wooden door with "B49",in white block characters, plastered on the front.
I raised my knuckles and lightly tapped on the door, just incase my roommate was inside. All of a sudden, the door yanked open and a tall blonde girl with deep brown eyes stood in front of me.
"Hi I'm Jordan, but you can just call me Jor, you must be Sydney!" The bubbly blonde extended her hand, and I lightly shook it.
"Yep, that's me!" The girl stepped aside, allowing me to walk into the room. Jor already had her stuff unpacked, and as I glanced around the room, I noticed several band posters on the wall.
"You have a good taste in music," I said while smiling at the girl, my eyes unvolentarily roaming over her posters of All Time Low, Green Day, and many others. My eyes got stuck on a very familiar boyband and I laughed.
"Were you sad that Zayn left?" Jordan immediately groaning at my remark.
"Very, but I'm over it now"
"Well you have a greate taste in music, girly." I complimented.
"Thanks!" Jordan said as she lightly chuckled.
"You're welcome! It's comforting to know that we like the same music," I smiled to myself, thinking that college was going to be a lot more fun than I imagined.

I know it's kinda boring, but I just wanted to establish some of the basics. Hope you liked it!
