IT WAS the next day after the moment you and Satoru shared and your mind was clouded with thoughts. Thoughts of regret.. you had thrown years of friendship out the window in a flurry of drunk sadness and the part that really confused you was how much you enjoyed it, how you can still feel his lips on you.
Shaking your head, you let out a sigh and put your attention back on your laptop that rested on your thighs. You were doing extra work from home today. The perks of being your own boss is how you could just stay home and not have to interact with many people, your employees already having the ability to do what needed to be done.
Most of the day was over already having gone by in a blink of an eye and you didn't mind that. You were still in your pjs and happily comfortable just as you were and so was mixy; she laid with her little paws stretched out and purrs vibrating from her fluffiness on the sofa beside you.
Getting up with a long stretch you placed your laptop down and headed towards the kitchen. Looking through your fridge your shoulders slumped "When was the last time I went grocery shopping" Damn- you cursed Guess I'm gonna have to go out after all. So you fixed yourself to look somewhat decent, threw on a hoodie and your sneakers.
Not forgetting your wallet because you have done that before and Todo your driver had to pay for your meal which you paid him back of course.. and your phone in case of any important calls.
Soon you were out walking the busy city streets! The city lights bright and the smell of food from the many vendors and busy food places enticing. A small growl from your stomach made you stop by the next nearest place. A cute but busy little mom and pop type of Italian restaurant.
The smell of fresh herbs and tomato most inviting. Taking a seat for one you took the menu from your waiter with a soft nod and ordered water for your drink. After finding what you wanted to order you waited patiently glancing around the place before your eyes landed on two familiar figures.
The second the pair of small dark eyes met yours you snapped the menu back up over your face Real smooth with that. Totally not drawing more attention You mentally mocked yourself with a shake of the head.
"Y/n?" A deeper voiced asked making you silently curse. You really weren't in the mood to talk to anyone yet here it was happening, the universe had to hate you sometimes.
Putting the menu down you calmly looked up at the man "Toji anddd Megumi. Funny seeing you guys here" you said in a lighthearted manner. Tojis eyes looked you over.. you looked like shit but cute shit if that makes sense.
"This is Megumis favorite restaurant, he loves the chicken here. He seen you and wanted to come say hey" Toji explained gesturing to his son who side eyed him "I just pointed you out he made the choice to come over here." He said bluntly making Toji harshly glance at him but he quickly huffed and put on a fake smile.
"Well I couldn't help but notice my boss over here all by herself. Had to come check up on her!" He said aggressively ruffling Megumis hair who didn't appreciate it. You felt your face grow warm at that Do I really look that depressing? You thought. It was quiet for a bit but you quickly gestured to the booth seats in front of you "You guys wanna eat together? It's on me" you offered.
Toji jumped on that chance like a kid with candy "Sounds good to me" he said hurriedly speed pushing Megumi to sit. Soon your waiter came back confused but nonetheless took the twos drink orders and went to go get them.
"So Megumi this is your favorite restaurant hm? How would you feel about having your birthday party here?" You asked making the boy perk up slightly "That would be cool but I think I want a at home birthday" he answered using the crayons provided for kids to doodle on the coloring page.
Looking over at Toji you shrugged sipping on your water at his answer. Toji without thinking eyes watched your lips around the straw but soon snapped out of it when their drinks arrived and it was time to order the food. You ordered the Italian dish of your choice, Toji went with lasagna and Megumi just wanted chicken. Nothing else just plain chicken.
You learned that night what a picky eater the boy was with the way he specifically took certain pieces of the appetizer. Toji watched you and Megumis small conversations and a small part of him felt warm seeing how he's son seemed so comfortable. It was like a family dinner. It felt.. nice.
"So what are you doing out this late? I didn't see you today at work" Toji asked gaining your attention "Oh. I was busy with some personal things- I'll be back in tomorrow" you said casually trying not to put much thought into it; Toji hummed but understood you didn't wanna talk about whatever the reason was.
Soon the food was there and you tried to pace yourself but after not eating all day the food never tasted better "I see why you like this place so much" you said taking another bite. Megumi nodded picking through his chicken eating small bites "So did your photo shoot go well today? The results haven't been sent to me yet but it was.. what theme again?" questioning Toji.
"-Beach Volleyball. I did my job so I'd say it came out good but sheesh you need to get your puppy on a leash" he said rolling his eyes thinking of earlier at work. You looked at him in confusion "My puppy?" You've never had a dog. Been a cat person as long as you could remember.
"Jenny. I asked her a simple question and she damn near bit my head off" he said begrudgingly. Was he gonna say the question was about where you were? No but that wasn't important the woman has got a problem. "Jenny did? I can't believe it" you said looking at the man in disbelief "Well you better. Ask her yourself the next time you see her".
Before long you paid for the food and made your way outside together "Well I had a nice time. I had a nice time talking with you Megumi-" you said leaning forward to wave at the boy that was now resting over Tojis shoulder trying to sleep getting a wave in return. The action made you crack a soft smile while you leaned back to look at the man before you "Soo I'll see you tomorrow at work. Don't be late" you said reminding him.
"Yeah yeah.. see ya then boss" he said with a dismissive wave of the hand. You hummed smiling, turning to make your way home a hand caught your wrist stopping you. Looking back at Toji he looked slightly confused by his own actions but then he opened his mouth letting out a low "Thank you.."
Nodding you uttered back a small "You're welcome" and then went on your way. You felt your heart warm at the action and thinking of the memories over the night- wasn't a bad night after all.
Definitely a nice distraction.
