...My father?
My heart beat raced as I saw my own father standing by me. He just stayed there, completely quiet, while staring at me with no emotion. He had a dark aura around him which made him look frightening. Tears rolled out of my eyes after a few minutes..Was he alright now? Or am I hallucinating..? My father, who had been admitted in the hospital, was now standing before me, showing so signs of injury. It brought to me nothing but fear. Even if my father was no longer in a critical condition, there is no way that he would have no injuries.
I had no control over my body, yet my hands trembled in fear. The man-figure's body started melting into something that looked even more terrifying. I couldn't even call out for help. Am I going to die..? My body was heavily sweating and trembling. I wanted to close my eyes desperately but I was not being able to. My breath became more uneven and my body was suddenly hit with another wave of exhaustion. My hands stopped trembling and I just laid there helplessly, not knowing what to do anymore..My eyelids eventually felt heavy and I finally closed my eyes. I tried moving my legs a little, and to my surprise, I could move it again! I didn't open my eyes. Instead, I focused on calming my breathing and relaxing my tense body..
When I felt that I had a good control over my body, I opened my eyes, with a hint of fear inside. I looked around, looking for the figure from earlier. Failing to find anything that looked unusual, I sighed in relief. I switched on the lamp beside me and took my phone, typing in my symptoms. I bit my lips nervously as I waited for the results to show on the screen. My eyes slightly widened as the results showed..
"Sleep Paralysis?" - I had heard about it before but never really took it seriously. A k-pop idol once shared about having sleep paralysis. I opened a website to read more about it..
"Sleep paralysis is a temporary inability to move or speak that occurs during the transition between wakefulness and sleep, or upon waking up. It typically occurs when a person becomes conscious while their body remains in a state of muscle atonia, which is a natural occurrence during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
Causes of Sleep Paralysis: While the exact cause of sleep paralysis is not fully understood, it is believed to be related to disrupted sleep patterns, irregular sleep schedules, stress, anxiety, and underlying sleep disorders such as narcolepsy. Episodes of sleep paralysis may also be triggered by sleeping on one's back or experiencing sleep deprivation.."
I sighed as I finished reading the entire article. I decided to get some fresh air..
Author's POV:
Jang-mi got up from the bed and went downstairs. She kept her movement slow and quiet, trying her best to not make any noise. She saw the swimming pool outside and decided to sit by the pool for a bit. Jaehyun's family was rich enough to have a posh looking swimming pool, decorated with golden lights that went well with the scenery.
