salish's pov
a/n: umm this treat like a diary entry or some sorta internal dialogue please & ty, not really sure what I was trying to do
today was move in day at usc (university of southern california. also it's located in los angeles). although I went here last year, I didn't get to keep my dorm over the summer and I was getting a new roommate. her name is maddie, and she also does gymnastics. i'm hoping that she's somewhat introverted, but not too much that we don't ever leave our dorm to do things and go out.
I loaded my stuff into my dorm and unpacked with the help of my mom and dad, which took about half the day.
"we'll miss you!", my mom said
"i'll miss you more", I said going in for a group hug
"where'd all the years go", my dad said tearing up and then looking at my mom
"dadd, it's not like it's my first year in college, i'm a sophomore now!", I protested
"I know, I know, still, it's just hard", my dad said
"both our babies are in college now and it's just sad having no one around", my mom said
we eventually said our final goodbyes and I settled in to my dorm.
a few days later my roommate, maddie, moved in.
"heyy! i'm salish", I said
"hey! i'm maddie. it's so great to finally meet you", she said smiling
we instantly clicked, which I was very grateful for.
"do you want to grab food?", she asked
"sure! do you want to go to that acai place down the road?", I asked
"yeah, sure! i'm vegetarian so i'm happy you picked acai bowls", maddie said
"wait actually? me too!", I said excitedly
"yess, love that for us", she said giving me a high five.
time skip.. (maddie drove them down to the acai place)
"what are you going to get?", she asked
"uhh, I think i'm going to do the sunset mango", I said
"ooh, that sounds good."
time skip to when they have their bowls
"did you hear about the freshman party coming up tomorrow on friday night?", maddie asked
"I didn't, but I remember going to mine last year", I said
"I didn't go here last year, how was it?"
"it was fine, kind of crazy but i'd do it over again if I got the chance.", I said
"actually?"
"yeah, it was so fun", I said taking a bite
"hear me out, what if we crashed the freshman party?", maddie said
