Shattered Hopes and Dreams

Dream's pov:

I stared up at the ceiling of my cabin. Deciding to leave the stars and become neutral is definitely an interesting process. I shut Nightmare and his family out and stopped working on healing because now isn't the time for that. I closed my sockets and checked the state of the emotional balance only to shoot out of my chair.

"HOW IS IT THAT BROKEN?!" I screamed shortcutting to Nightmares castle.

"NIGHTMARE MEDAILLE WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!" I yelled at the top of my nonexistent lungs.

"Why are you screaming your skull off Dream??" he groaned as his family looked at me just as confused.

"Our balance is so out of whack i have no idea how to fix it!!! What the fuck did you do?!"

"Nothing!!! We only went to three au's to make up for your accidental spread of too much positivity... FUCK!" He looked up at me, his eye lights wide.

"If it wasn't us then..."

"Squid. He created more au's that would fuck with your two balance thus forcing you two, well in his hopes, fight each other... sneaky bastard."

"Error, how do you know that?" Both Night and I asked in sync which by the looks of it spooked all of them out.

"Uhm ignoring that you two pulled a twin thing... shift told me so looks like we all have work to do"

"Umm how do we spread positivity??"

"Doing the exact opposite of what you guys do to help Nightmare.."

"Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Killer groaned, causing us to chuckle.

"Well good news for you then there's too much of both"

"Meaning??" Dust, Killer and Horror asked at the same time causing Night and I to look at each other before slightly shaking our skulls in amusement.

"Meaning you three that we have to go and remove the emotions and restart it basically."

"Wait.. so you're turning it off and on again?"

"Yea pretty much."

"How did you two know what to do in this instance?" I gave a sheepish grin as I rubbed the back of my skull while Night side glared at me.

"This idiot gave too much positivity that it not only damn near put me in a coma but it almost killed Dreamtale, before i happened to it, so i had to go through the whole au fixing his mistake but unlike him i wasn't used to it so i ended up doing the same thing..."

"Soo when he came back home we both had to go to the tree of feelings, or nym or our mom, and asked her how do we fix this. While yes our mother maintained the balance for us in terms of the multiverse we still had to do it for our au. Anyways, she told us what we had to do."

"So there's the short story of it." Nightmare finished as well, both of us chuckled a bit embarrassed.

"So now you two have to do that again but on the multiversal level now." Dust stated with a slight sigh.

"Yup" we both answered.

"How bad are the after effects?" Error asked while looking at Nightmare.

"well... " Night trailed off wincing at the memory of it

"We would rather not say.." I looked to my left while i gripped my left arm tightly

"Why Dream?" Horror asked, now very worried causing Dust and Killer to lightly put their hands on his shoulder. I sighed and looked at Nightmare who nodded and gently held my hand.

"In order to do what we're going to do we both will effectively be useless during and after..."

"Meaning if there's an attack or we need help from you two you wont and cant do anything.."

"Sadly yes dust."

"Then i guess we step up and protect you dadmare." killer chimned in smiling. Causing Night and Error to smile faintly.

"Not just me kills. But Dream as well. We all know he ran but he is a neutral and you boys understand that." they nodded but i raised a brow when i felt slight hope in Dust.

"When Error has to destroy au's you three will go with him to keep him safe. Dust dont give me that look. Lust, blue and fell will take up your places as well. Error your brothers offered to destroy in your place but they know you soo deal with that." I smiled as I squeezed his hand.

"Look this won't be easy but the.. Ugh i have no idea what to call our balance right now with its state. But it hasn't affect you guys yet well i have an idea why BE CAREFUL too much negativity will lead to souls to no longer have a will to live"

"While too much positivity will lead to souls having no sense of self preservation so who knows how it affects the blind judges." Nightmare finished as we both sighed. Last time we had to put ourselves into a coma and visit each monster and human that, in my case, had too much negativity and slowly rebalance them. When it happened in our home it took us a month. But a whole multiverse with who knows how many..

"Night.. If we do this we won't wake up.."

"But if we do nothing then it'll take even longer for it to correct itself if it does"

"Damn it ink.." I grumbled as a tear rolled down my cheek. What the hell do I do?! I groaned as I walked around the room not sure what would be best. Knowing HER if I did work on my end then SHE would have Ink attack or i don't know.. What should I do?! I angrily wiped my tears away, I tend to cry from frustration, either Night is the target or I am it's a 50/50 that I can't get wrong.

"I have people that can protect me Dream.. You.."

"I know I don't!" I snapped at him, my tentacles lashing out at my rage. I took a deep breath to calm myself.

"As you said you have people that can protect you. It's best if we do this one side at a time. It's easier for you to nullify positivity than it is for me with negativity." I smiled at him but he only sighed as he nodded.

"Well then I guess I'll see you all when I wake..." he muttered. With that Nightmare went to lay down on the couch and slept.

"Any hope I had for there to be any peace with them is gone.." I sighed only to feel a hand on my shoulder.

"It's ok you get used to any of your hopes and dreams getting shattered by the so-called judges and protectors." I turned and looked up at Dust only to nod.

"Just so you're not surprised. We'll have to protect him for at least a few months. He has a higher chance of waking up."

"Wait, what do you mean by a higher chance of waking?" Error looked at me, eye sockets wide.

"Simple. Last time he barely got me to wake after 6 months of the imbalance being fixed." I shrugged, smiling.

"So you knowing, this has him fixing his half so that we would?"

"So you guys would at least have some time with me and have one of us still at your side to help fight. I'm aware that there's a high chance I won't wake up and I'll be considered fallen down." I shrugged and went to the bathroom to change. When I got back I looked at them.

"Either way this is one of my last fights. There's no saving Ink or the multiverse."

-Meanwhile-

K̶i̶l̶l̶e̶r̶'̶s̶ ̶P̶O̶V̶:

Great so all of our work is for nothing. I looked at Night clenching my fists as I felt a bit of rage.

"So all of this suffering is for fucking NOTHING?!" I looked at them as I started to cry more hate. Slaughter ,my chara, adding more hate than usual.

"Sadly yes killer.." that's all it took for us to almost give up.

~here you guys go thank you for being patient with me! small update im going to be publishing a small thing for my A.t and A.M.U  im still in the process of fully flushing it out but i hope itll help exlain a bit in the upcoming chapters. but thank you all and yea. -C~
