JIMIN

After Aunt Yoonah took Alaya into the guest room, I sat alone for hours. I had more than enough time to catch some sleep and step out to get air for a while. When it hit five in the afternoon, I stood up to find a cloth and polish my sword's blade back to its shining state.

While searching for the fabric, I heard the front door close making me stop and listen. Heavy footsteps followed my uncle's voice, "Yoonah, I caught a dozen today"

"Caught what?" I turned around with the question rolling off of my tongue. He stopped in his tracks, his grey eyes peering at me from under his bushy brows. His expressions went through a couple of emotions.

He left his fishing tools by the wall and smiled warmly at me. His smile mimicked my dead father's and the sight made my heart stop for a minute. "Jimin, you're here," he spoke, looking relieved. He then continued, "I caught your aunt's favorite fish. Where is she?" His conversation was all over the place, but I knew that was because he didn't expect me here today.

"I brought my fiancée. Alaya. She is with her." I told him, sitting on the pillow as I unsheathed my sword, letting him stare at it for a while. I took the cloth to clean the sharp edges. He went quiet, staring at the sword for a while before he murmured in realization "You still carry that with you.." he trailed off.

I inhaled, licking my lips wet at that "Obviously. It's my father's and for the past few years, It's the only thing helping me stick to my plan." I spoke before I resumed polishing the sword. A thick layer of tension covered the atmosphere before he sat across me. "It's been years since your parents' murder, Jimin..you don't need to do this revenge thing. You even have a fiancée, now. Does she know anything about you?"

My blood went cold, anger rising in me. The fact that he wanted me to forget the ruthless murder of my parents, and discard my plan to make the criminals pay, made me mad. I gripped the sword tightly as I met his gaze harshly.

"She knows I am the famous guardian. She doesn't need to know my past." I told him, biting on my bottom inner lip "..and I brought her here because you will officialize our vows tonight." I finished, no longer open to this topic.

Overlooking the things he had done in the past, my uncle and aunt were the only family I had, in this world. I didn't hate him, I just felt disappointed whenever I saw him. He and Aunt Yoonah knew this very well, and they always attempted to make me happy by never questioning my life decisions. That was also why they didn't ask too much about Alaya and my rapid marriage with her.

As we stared at each other in silence, glaring into one another's eyes, the door to the guest room unlocked and Aunt's cheerful voice chirped, "Are you ready to see your bride, Jimin?" I turned to look up at her, hiding my stiff expression with a warm smile.

"Yes." I stood up and made my way into the room before I had to continue sitting in the heavy silence with my uncle.

The door of the guest room closed behind me, and as I walked further I picked up the sweet smell of roses.

On the bed sat Alaya and when I noticed her, my heartbeat raced. Suddenly, all the stress from the previous conversation became secondary as I stopped and stared at her.
