It was a busy Friday evening, the clock was ticking. You were still at work and your eyes were so engrossed in your work that you didn't notice that it was already 8:30pm. Quickly, you closed your computer, put the files in the drawer, and picked up your things to leave the office.
As you were in the lift, the familiar feeling of frustration crept in. Every day seemed like a repeat of the last, with working overtime becoming the norm rather than the exception. The weight of the workload and the late hours weighed heavily on your shoulders, making you question why things had to be this way.
Your thoughts turned to Mr. Dutta, your manager, whose management style seemed to be the root of the problem. His lack of consideration for your time and well-being was evident in the way he left early, leaving you to pick up the pieces and work late into the evening.
"Why should I continue to work like this?" you thought. The unfairness of the situation annoyed you, fuelling a growing resentment towards Mr. Dutta and the circumstances that forced you to sacrifice your personal time for work as he went off after work, to drink.
Y/N POV
As the lift's door opened, you noticed the security guard was still there.
"Oh, Hello Y/n Madam, working late as usual," says the security guard, his voice carrying a mix of sympathy and concern.
"Yes, Dipankarji, just the usual routine - coming to the office in the morning and leaving late in the afternoon," you reply with a weary smile.
"Ah, I can't help but pity you for working under Mr. Bhatta," Dipankarji says with a sympathetic sigh. "He's a tough one to deal with, that's for sure. But hang in there, Madam. Things will get better."
"Thank you, Dipankarji," you reply, appreciating his understanding. "I'll keep pushing through. Hopefully, things will change soon."
"Madam, have you watched the latest episode of Bepannah?" asked Dipankarji, his tone shifting to one of curiosity and camaraderie.
"Not yet, Dipankarji," you reply with a hint of regret. "I've been swamped with work lately. But I'm looking forward to catching up on it soon." Your voice carries a touch of anticipation, eager to indulge in a brief escape into the world of your favourite TV serial and to swoon over the romantic scenes of Aditya Hooda, the hearthrob character of many girls and the king of hearts. To you, he was more than just a character on a screen; he embodied qualities that resonated deeply with you. His struggles, his triumphs, and his unwavering devotion spoke to a part of you that longed for someone to understand connection and understanding.
"Madamji, are you alright? You seem to be lost in deep thought," says the security guard, his voice laced with concern as he notices your introspective demeanor.
You pause, startled by his observation, before offering a faint smile. "Yes, Dipankarji, I'm fine," you assure him, though the weight of your thoughts lingers. "I will then get going" says Y/n with a warm smile. "I hope you have a great night."
"Thank you, Madam," says the security guard with a respectful nod. "Remember, even in the darkest of nights, there's always a glimmer of light to guide you. Stay strong, and trust that brighter days are ahead.
"Thank you for your kind words, Dipankarji," Y/n replies, touched by his wisdom. "I'll keep them in mind. Goodnight." You step through the sliding doors and into the night, the cool air a refreshing contrast to the day's chaos. Walking to your car, you feel a sense of relief wash over you.
