"Watch out!" A soccer player shouted as a ball flew dangerously close.
"Ouch!!! Can you guys play safely for the sake of other people!?" I exclaimed angrily.
"Sorry, I might have kicked the ball too hard," he said softly, offering me ice for my forehead. As he reached out to give it to me, our hands accidentally touched, and I felt something different.
Oh geez... I didn't introduce myself, did I? Hi, my name is Kéiro Del Burgos. I'm that kind of student who eats at the library and has few friends at college because I'm gay. Well, everybody knew I was gay because I came out to the whole school.
You might be wondering who the nice soccer player is. His name is Rio Montenegro. He's a popular soccer player, a favorite among girls, loves to explore new things, and likes to tease, but he's kind. Trust me, he is.Now, let's continue with my story.
In his mind: "No, Kéiro, you have a boyfriend, and he's straight. Control yourself!"
"Yo, Rio, get the ball and continue playing with us. Don't talk to that weirdo!
He's gay, and that makes him disgusting," Leon said.
"LEAVE HIM ALONE!" someone behind me shouted.
"Or what, Jacob? Am I going to hurt you with your weak baby hands?" Leon mocked. Laughter echoed in the background.
Jacob got angry and punched Leon right in the face. A fight broke out between Jacob and Leon.
I ran and told the gym teacher what happened.
"JACOB AND LEON TO THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE NOW!" Mr. Villanueva shouted.
After solving the problem in the principal's office...
At the cafeteria:
"Sorry, Jacob, I shouldn't have read on the field today," I kept apologizing while applying ice and bandages to Jacob's face.
"It's fine, Kéiro. They should be taught to be respectful to others," Jacob answered.
"By the way, do you have any plans for today, Kéiro?" Jacob asked.
"Not really. Mom and Dad are away on a business trip, and I have very little money left. Plus, Bianca, Heizel, and Andrew have plans today, so I'm all
alone at home," I replied.
"Well, can I at least go to your house?" Jacob asked again.
"Sure, I guess..."
After class:"Oh, Kéiro, I'll go home first and get some food for us," Jacob said excitedly.As I walked past, Rio suddenly appeared.
"Yo! Sorry about my friends. They didn't mean that. Please forgive them," Rio apologized.
"Oh, it's fine. I'm used to being bullied a lot. Those words never really offend me," I answered.
*Moment of silence*
"Well, bye," I said.
Rio grabbed my right hand.
"Wait... Do you want to hang out sometime?" Rio asked.
"No, thanks. But thank you for asking, though," I replied.
"But why?" Rio asked again.
"You ask too much. I just want some alone time, and I don't even know you truly," I said.
"If we hang out, you might know more about me. HAHAHA!" Rio chuckled.
"Alright, alright, fine. We can hang out, but I'm bringing my boyfriend. Is that okay with you?"
"Oh, sure!"
After an hour, at the Del Burgos household:
"Who is that, big brother? Is that your new boyfriend?" my sister asked.I got flustered. "NO!" I shouted. "Uhm, sorry I shouted, Azi. He's just my friend. But my real boyfriend is coming over. Rio just wanted to tag along with us."
"It's alright, big brother! But can I watch on your computer?" Azi asked.
"Alright, but don't use it until midnight."
"OKI, BIG BROTHER!"
"Rio, you can go to my room first. I'll just get some food for us."
"Sure, sure."
Rio went to my room and noticed many pictures. One person seemed familiar to him.
"Yo!"
Rio got nervous.
"Don't be nervous. That's normal here."
Rio asked who the girl in the picture was.
"She's my sister..."
"You wouldn't mind if I ask what happened to her, right?"
"Yeah."
*Moment of silence*
"She died... from an accident. They said someone pushed her..."I sobbed, and Rio comforted me.
Someone opened the front door in the Del Burgos household.
"Azi??"
"HEREE!"
"Oh, do you know where your big brother is?"
"Upstairs with his friend!"
"Who?"
"Big brother said his name is Rio."
Jacob got surprised and went upstairs quickly.
He opened the door.
"WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING???"
