It's been over a year since Michelle and Anntonia had reconciled, and it had been the best year of their marriage yet.

The week after Michelle came home, they started therapy with a well known couples' counselor in their area. The first few sessions had been emotionally taxing, Anntonia had cried, Michelle had cried, they both had cried. The first few sessions, they had worked on rebuilding their trust.

Dr. Lopez, their therapist, had started with deep diving into why Anntonia believed Michelle would cheat on her in the first place. It came from a place of deep insecurity, part of her had never believed she was good enough for Michelle. And it didn't help that on their wedding day, her mom said she should have married someone in her league, because apparently, women who were married to less attractive, were happier.

Shocked and appalled by her mother's words, Dr. Lopez had given Anntonia some exercises to work on her self esteem, and then she had done something that Anntonia thought would be the last thing to help. The doctor had Michelle look at her wife, and name every single one of her flaws. From her appearance to her personality, and Michelle started naming every single one of her worst insecurities; her stretch marks from pregnancy, the saggy boobs, the way Anntonia's hips were wider than they used to be, and the cellulite on her legs.

Michelle had talked about her wife's control issues, especially when it came to parenting their children. Michelle felt that nothing she ever did was good enough in regards to their kids or cleaning. Then Dr. Lopez asked why she'd said what she did about Anntonia's body.

"Those are the things she would say when she would accuse me of cheating; saying that her perceived imperfections were all I saw. But she couldn't be more wrong. I named them because I do see them, I have eyes. I'm fully aware that her body has changed, of course it has. We've been together for a decade and we have two children. I see it, but unlike her; I don't see them as flaws, they're just a part of her body. I married her heart and soul, not her body. Her hips are wider than they were ten years ago and her stomach has stretch marks because she carried two of my children, and now a third. Her breasts aren't as perky because of her age and having fed our children. I see the changes, but they don't turn me off like she has accused in the past. They make me love her more. She gave me the gift of two lovely kids. How could I love her any less just because of how it changed and shaped her?" Michelle held her gaze the entire time she spoke, and Anntonia had started tearing upafter the third sentence.

"And the other things you said?" the therapist had asked. "Her control issues?

"She's a human. She's got flaws, just like I do. We need to talk about them. I wanted to be a parent too. I also think that if our marriage was more stable she'll let me help more. If she trusts me with her heart and body, she'll trust me to be a co-parent."

That hasn't even been the most cathartic session.

Dr. Lopez had them take a test to determine their love languages. So afterwards, Anntonia's was acts of service and Michelle's was physical touch.

So, for the next week, between their sessions, they had to each write down everything they did that they thought made the other feel loved based on their love language. They also had to write down everything the other did to make themselves feel loved based on their love language.

Thus, Anntonia had to write down every time she used to touch that made Michelle feel loved, and she had to write down each act of service Michelle did that made her feel loved.
