CRYSTAL-LIKE tears cascaded down her cheeks, she couldn't stop them from pouring down. she was crouched down, leaning against the stone hard wall that felt so cold. she felt so alone; so isolated from everything - it wasn't an odd sensation, no, she was completely used to it.

her hands balled up into a fist in an attempt to tell herself that everything would be fine. it in fact wasn't fine. each and every moment her eyes closes, she could only visualise the crimson scarlet blood dripping down her significant other's lips behind her closed eyelids. successfully pushing a bloodcurdling scream out of her own throat as she tried to erase the trauma engraved in her mind.

fear haunted her mercilessly, like a predator towering over a small nimble prey. she could only watch helplessly as it engulfed her whole.

a distant alluring voice called out to her creepily, as her eyes cracked open, there was a change in scenario. a cloudy mist coating the void and a silhouette of a mysterious figure lurking in the hazy mist.

"ʍɐʞǝ nd."

what..?

"wa.. up.."

so incoherent..

"wake up princessa."

at that command, the (hair-coloured) girl shot up from the bed she laid in. accidentally head-butting the poor male that was caging her body with his hands on both sides of her head in the process.

"what the-!" the ginger winced at the impact, flinching backwards as he palmed his forehead to soothe the aching pain. while (name), on the other hand, blinked rapidly trying to adjust to the blinding light seeping through the translucent curtains.

(name) completely ignored the man's theatrics as he rolled dramatically on the bed, spewing a string of profanities.

instead, she chose to slowly process the horrifying nightmare that tainted her mind. the pungent scent of blood, the sight of childe's corpse drenched in the scarlet liquid drove her to the core of insanity from how real it was.

if she may add; it was too realistic for her own liking nothing like her past nightmares. it was uncanny and it didn't sit right with her at all. apprehension pooled in her stomach as worry swarmed her (eye-color) orbs before she blinked it away — regaining her senses.

"oh. my bad." (name) dryly muttered after realising what had happened. her gaze shifted to her significant other.

well, it wasn't a pleasant sight to witness. the grown man was rolling around her sheets, clutching his forehead as if he was on the brink of death anytime soon.

and to be really honest, she wasn't concerned nor was she buying the act. being together with the male for a period of time has led her to realise how much the ginger deserves an oscar award for his acting skills.

on the other hand, the moment childe heard the woman that he was a die-hard simp for speak, a smirk crept up his soft lips.

he sat up from his position and shuffled a little on the bed so that he was positioned right infront of her, sitting on his knees akin to an obedient dog.

"it's fine." childe brushed off before a low chuckle left his lips.

"however, i do need to claim what is rightfully mine. a 'token of apology' to be specific. i'm assuming you know what that is, right (name)?"

before she could even comprehend his words, her soft lips were claimed by his own.

as both of their lips were sealed, a thought circled through childe's mind.

he was thankful that he stucked by her side on that particular night. specifically, a year ago.

he was beyond overjoyed when (name) confessed her liking towards him.

actually, scratch that, overjoyed is an understatement.

it felt surreal. like a dream.

hypothetically speaking, if it was a dream oh boy did he not want to wake up from it.

━━━━━━━━━━━

that pulchritudinous night both of them poured out their true feelings — no longer hiding behind a pillar of facade and denial.

both of them wasted no time as they got together a few months after that.

after their relationship was made public to the fatui, everyone was beyond elated at the news.

they knew that (name) and childe would make the perfect pair due to the immense amount of chemistry that they had on the battlefield.

everyone but the tsarita and some of the harbingers approved of the newly formed relationship.

hence, the tsaritsa decided on devising a plan to somehow get rid of the distraction that was luring her daughter further and further away from her task at hand.

"my dear snowflake, you must be ready at all times for whatever consequences that you might face. for you chose to associate yourself with worldly matters that are not fit for divine beings. hence you shall suffer the aftermath rightfully so."

━━━━━━━━━━━

one would call it: "the calm before the storm."

nothing would have prepared (name) and childe for that moment.

but could you really blame them? love makes people naive. fantasising on the possibility of their future together when in reality there's none. just false hope.

it's pathetic really. love provides one with temporary satisfaction and permanant irreversible pain.
