It had been nearly two years since Kim Roksoo, now known as Cale Henituse, had embraced the role of the infamous "trash" of the Henituse family, a title he had grudgingly accepted to his ultimate goal: to live a slacker life. In those two years, the world had been turned upside down by wars, political upheavals, and a myriad of chaotic events that had continuously threatened his pursuit of a slacker's paradise. Yet, the most significant development was the death of that insufferable radish—an irritating thorn in Cale's side who had persistently disrupted his attempts at a tranquil life. With that accursed radish finally out of the picture, Cale felt a sense of victory. The irritant was gone, and with it, the relentless disruptions. Now, not even the gods themselves could tear him away from the serene, lazy existence he so cherished.
he had gained what he had always craved in his past life after his parents had died: friends, companions, and a sense of family. These bonds filled the deep void left by his tragic past, offering him a warmth and camaraderie he had never thought he would experience again. The most unexpected and miraculous reunion had been with Lee Soo Hyuk, who had reincarnated with his memories fully intact. This reunion had brought a piece of his old life into his new one, grounding him in a way he hadn't anticipated. Additionally, Choi Jungsoo, now serving under the God of Death, had also returned to his side, further solidifying the support network he had never dreamed possible. With these cherished people by his side, Cale felt a profound sense of contentment and belonging. He couldn't ask for more, believing that with his enemies vanquished and his loved ones around him, his long-desired slacker life was finally within reach.
Yet, sometimes, in the quiet moments between adventures and the solace of his newfound peace, Cale felt a nagging sense of incompleteness. It was an unfamiliar sensation, one he had never acknowledged before. Despite having everything he had wished for—friends, family, and a peaceful life—there remained a void in his heart, an elusive emptiness he couldn't quite identify. It gnawed at him, a constant whisper that he was forgetting something important, something very important in his life (knowing that it shouldn't be possible with his 'Record' ability). This feeling of missing an integral piece of his existence lingered, casting a shadow over his otherwise contented slacker life, leaving him to wonder what it was that he still yearned for in the depths of his soul
Alberu who noticed his unusual expression asked if something was going on in his mind, as there shouldn't be anything for him to be like this, there's no more war now and there shouldn't be any reason his dongsaeng should be in trouble now should he?
"Do you think that you're feeling guilty for living as Cale?"
That's the conclusion Alberu came with after Cale told him everything, well it's not like that thought didn't come across him, but he doesn't dare to tell the truth to anyone so he tried to find out if there's any other reason to what he's feeling
Cale didn't know why or how he had woken up in Cale Henituse's body. The possibility that he might have somehow killed the original Cale or that the original might still be alive haunted him. He had countless theories but ultimately dismissed them, accepting that what's done is done. Despite these uncertainties, he was deeply attached to the family he'd gained in this life and couldn't bear the thought of losing them. The fear of rejection kept him from revealing his true identity, as he lacked the courage to tell his family that he wasn't the real Cale.
Cale might sound selfish right now, and he felt horrible for it. Whenever the thought of the original Cale crossed his mind, he tried to dismiss it, pushing the guilt deep down. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't forget. His ability wouldn't let him. Memories and feelings lingered, refusing to fade, a constant reminder of the life he had taken over.
"My dear dongsaeng," Alberu began, wearing his infamous scammer smile with a hint of concern, "it may seem like what you're feeling is just because you have nothing to do or because you've been cooped up in your room for too long. How about I give you some work? You may forget about it for a while."
