I'm glad that Yoonseo didn't show up at the time she told me. It could have been unpleasant. She could have gotten into trouble. But I have to think about what I'm going to do about Kyungjun.
At that moment, I remember what Nahee did during the last game and I run upstairs before everyone is awake. But with what can I write something? There's nothing here. Darn it! I should have thought of that. Now everyone's awake and I don't have time
"Kim Somi was executed by the mafia," the speakers announce. "Kim Somi was a civilian."
"Junhee!" Yoonseo is standing next to me. "What are you doing here?" I can already hear that she's skeptical.
"I have to get people to vote for Kyungjun," I answer her. "Do you have paint I can write with?"
"Don't do that," she says, "You'll only get yourself into trouble if you pretend to be the police."
"I'm dead anyway for ramming a pair of scissors into his arm, if they don't vote him out!" My voice rises and I can feel myself sweating. Shit, I'm panicking.
"Why would you do that?!" Now she sounds panicked too.
"Don't you know what occupation he has?" I say.
"Ye-" She flinches and puts her hand over her mouth, but the blood is already trickling between her fingers and dripping onto the floor.
"You can't reveal the identities of other mafias to citizens."
"Shit!" I reach under her shoulders to support her. "Let's get out of here."
As quickly as I can, I run with Yoonseo to the washrooms and turn on the faucet at the sink. The water flows hissing and I hold her trembling hands under it.
"Just wash it off," I say to her as calmly as I can. "No one will notice. Your clothes were already bloody anyway." But I'm tense too. Because if anyone notices, I don't know if I can protect her.
"And I'm sorry," I add. "I shouldn't have asked you that. I should have thought about what would happen."
"Me too," she replies, shaken by another coughing fit.
"Don't talk," I say and continue to hold her. She nods slowly and gradually washes her face. "We're getting out of here, we have to."
"Hey! What are you doing?" a voice suddenly calls out. It's Yool. Damn.
"Yoonseo fell down, we're just cleaning the wound," I explain, hoping he'll be satisfied with that.
"And you have to be with her for that?" he asks, looking up and down at the two of us. Then his gaze lingers on a point behind me. His pupils dilate.
I turn around. The blood-soaked sink. Yoonseo's face, on which bloody stains are still visible.
"She's a mafia!" he shouts. "The announcement makes it clear."
"Shut up, damn it!" I shout at him and take a few steps towards him.
I grab him by the shirt and scowl at him. The idiot has to be scared or we're fucked.
"Why should I?" He pulls away from my grip and steps back. "Do you want to be suspected too? Or why are you helping her?"
"My reasons are none of your business, so just shut up this evening," I tell him through clenched teeth.
"I don't think so," he says lightly. Then he walks towards Yoonseo. "Lee. Yoon. Seo." He emphasizes every syllable of her name. "A mafia. Who would have thought that?"
"Leave her alone!" I shout at him angrily.
He turns to me. "Why don't you let her speak for herself? Are you her boyfriend or why are you behaving like this? Are you in love, Junhee?"
