When discussing the population as measurements like "generations", I see the term in reference to before and after a thing was invented. For example, the generation born before cars were invented had a different perspective of transportation than the generation born after cars were invented. The people born during that time frame were testers of the invention and their experiences helped shaped the future. When we take this concept and apply it to other ideas that became physical, we can see the world working together in harmony for a rare moment.
After something is released, use a phone as an example, we see many people around the world giving their feedback on what they like and don't like. Yes, some people would be broad and give general statements of 'it's good' or 'its bad'. But, even those have a purpose, reflecting personal ideas onto the same thing.
Now, why can't we allow individual people to say their thoughts without taking it personally? If I was trying out a new phone and somebody said that they hated it, what response would you have? I can think of people in my life who would respond defensively, some upset and offended, and me personally, i wouldn't have a physical response but a mental response. I would be second guessing my decision to like or even love the type of phone someone else hated.
My personal response, isn't personal to me alone. Many people will have that type of reaction. Then we see their love for something become hate because of the influence of others and the desire to fit in. So, how can we remove the desire to fit in, in order to stand out?The answer is interesting because there is no correct answer, every answer you can think of is up for interpretation. I can see one possible answer is the way to stand out when fiting inside a crowd is a change in mentality and allowing yourself to be brave. This will shift a persons mentality enough where they wont feel bad for standing out, especially when by themselves. But, this "answer" only allows one person to move forward, not an entire generation, or the whole population for that matter. Therefore, we as a group must discuss other "answers", or should we call them ideas, until we can confirm what actually works.
The concept of standing out individually while working as a team is complex. Is there a way to have everyone actually get along without needing a natural disaster? Or maybe, is the existence of humans a natural disaster of its own, is that what it takes to get us together. The concept of humans destroying themselves causing everyone to come together. We have examples to date of humans destroying the world with pollution. Or how about overpopulation? The spread of disease? Or the increase of sales of weapons causing many people to die each year. Is it really so hard to let people live without the need to insert our opinions? Even if it directly or indirectly affects someone, that need to fit in, makes us compelled to insert our lives in the lives of others. The question then becomes, is there a way for humans to get along without becoming one. I want to stand out, but at the same time, i want other people to want me to stand out and to let me.
