if only the timing was right.

if only you weren't with her by the time i realized i loved you.

if only you didn't have to leave for college when i got a scholarship here.

if only we met once that year before you kissed her.

if only i didn't drop my pen in lit class. if only he didn't talk to me.

if only you didn't get engaged.

if only i looked back at the airport to see that you were running towards me, to try and stop me from leaving.

if only the timing was right.

then i wouldn't be divorced and stuck with 3 children.

then you wouldn't be in rehab.

then we would have had our shot.

it's funny how the world sends you the right love at the wrong circumstances. and you feel as if the world is laughing at the mess it made with your life.

but really, the world didn't make the mess-- our choices did.
