A TRIP TO THE HOSPITAL
Monday, September
Manchester City, 9:00pm
"Doctor, I am family. I'm her son Rayan's best friend and I'm also like a daughter to her." I say
"Okay" the doctor says thoughtfully.
"I remember u Imani, Rayan's mom, has told me a lot of good things about you. Well I am sorry to inform you but your mother is now fine, but she has cancer "
After the doctor said those words that dropped like a bomb on my heart, he left for his offIce.
I am so confused.
I fall to the ground crying and start to recall whether mama ever told me anything about having cancer.
I notice Rayan is coming back so I try to clean my tears so he doesn't notice.
"What's wrong? What did the doctor say?" He asks
"I-I…" I pause for a moment to collect my self.
"It's your mom" I finally say.
He just looks at me waiting patiently for me to finish my sentence.
"She is okay but…the doctor said s-s-she has c-cancer"
Rayan's eyes widen, I see tears start to form in his eyes.
This is the first time I've ever seen Rayan so close to crying.
"Rayan I know this is hard for you to digest, but please pull yourself together.
I will go home, freshen up, and I'll get some food for you and Mama.
I will be right back and If she asks about me, tell her I want to get some food for the both of you."
