I've been in Freeridge for a week and everything has been perfect

I've been in Freeridge for a week and everything has been perfect. I hadn't realized just how much I had missed my brother when i was away, and I've became quite fond of his company in the few days we have spent together. It became a routine for us to have breakfast together, where we have random conversations, and exchange details about ourselves that the other may not have known. Another thing I've enjoyed is making friends. Despite my so called popularity at my old school, I'd always felt out of place. They went to private school because they were rich, and i went because I was smart. Though no one had ever said anything, it was clear by their pretentious smiles that they thought it. Cesar and his friends never failed to make me feel welcome, and I even made friends with jasmine, who contrary to the boys' warning was actually good company.

'Wanna go to the corner store? I want takis' the text I received from jasmine read.

I agreed and met her at her house, where we began walking to the corner store.

She shared the latest gossip with me on the way. As we got to the corner store,we had separated as she was looking for her snacks and i had decided  to pick up ingredients to make a cake. I stood struggling to reach the sprinkles which were inconsiderately placed on the top shelf when an unfamiliar figure appeared beside me.

"Need some help?" He asked.

"Nope I'm all good" I replied as I stood on my tip toes and barely grabbed the pack.

"I've never seen you around here before. What brings you to freeridge?"

"I just moved here," I answered, " I'm Kamila," I told him my name and looked at him awaiting his introduction.

"I'm Alejandro. It was nice meeting you Kamila" he said and walked away.

Later that afternoon day we went to the pool. I'd even convinced Ruby and Jamal to let Jasmine tag along.

Jasmine was putting sunscreen on my back while Jamal and I gossiped about the random people we would see while Cesar and Ruby were talking, thought Ruby was far more interested in ogling at the bikini clad women.

"I want ice cream." I exclaimed hopping up.

"I'll go with you." Cesar said following behind me.

"We should go out sometime." He said as we began walking side to side.

"Where should we go?" I asked looking at him.

We decided on a place, got our ice cream and headed back to the others. After spending some more time at the pool we made our way home. We walked Jasmine to hers first then made our way to mine and Cesar's street. We ended up chilling in Cesar's lawn. Jamal and Ruby were of course uncomfortable around Spooky and the other Santos, but regardless the four of us sat joking until one santo about my brother's age made a comment about Monse.

"Yo ease up homie. Don't talk about her like that." Cesar said approaching him.

"Why not, last I checked she not claimed."

"Well I'm claiming her. Me and her smashed, really hard, so back off"

The man raised his arms in surrender and Cesar made his way back to us.

"Could you imagine if that was true." Jamal chuckled "Monse is not a hit and runner like that"

"It is true" Cesar said

"Liar" Ruby chuckled as well.

"No really," Cesar said with his head down. "Before she left for camp." He turned his head and saw some santos paying attention to our conversation. "Like I said," He said in a louder firm tone this time "We smashed hard"

"Take it back Cesar." Ruby said, now seeming a bit upset. Cesar shook his head.

"You know how she's gonna get when she hears you said that. Take it back Cesar." Jamal exclaimed.

The three boys went back and forth debating whether it was true or false, and demanding that Cesar take back what he said. Eventually,Jamal and Ruby stormed off. Leaving Cesar and I sat in silence.

"I'm just gonna go home now, okay?" I said to him with a nervous chuckle.
"Are you mad at me?" He asked, standing up to walk me the short distance to my house.

"Why would I be?" I nervously chuckled again

"Well I mean I just asked you out then admitted I smashed someone" He proclaimed.

"Hey, that's your business, it's really no biggie."
It really wasn't, but I'd rather avoid the drama completely, and judging from the boys' reactions, there's bound to be a truckload of it.

We ended our conversation and I returned home.

I got ready for bed and lay beneath my blanket awake, when I felt a buzz from my phone.

Unknown Number
Hey

You
Hello?

Unknown Number
It's Alejandro

You
Could've led with that lol

How'd you get my number??

Alejandro
Friend of a friend of a friend.

You
That's not weird at all you creep.

Alejandro and I spoke some more that night, and quite frequently after it. Whilst I avoided the boys in my attempt to stay drama free, Alejandro, Jasmine and I spent a lot of time together.
Cesar and I hadn't gone out like we said we would, until the night he showed up at my window with bruised ribs and in dire need of a friend. That night was the most him and I had really talked, and I'd even given my and his brother an earful about the situation. School was starting soon, so my brother and I had been ensuring everything was set for my transition to my new school, and the both of us had even returned to the beach to bond some more.
