Red's POV:
How can one girl hold back four huge, angry, overprotective men?
She can't. Not without some help, at least. Tess, if only I could link you.
"Can we just calm down for a second?" I asked, holding my hands out.
"No," Darius growled, his fists balled at his sides. "I'm going to fucking kill him."
"Who the fuck does he think he is?" Ezra snapped.
"He has a death wish," Levi said, his eyes flashing gold.
"Wish granted," Noah said, his breathing ragged and shoulders shaking, on the brink of shifting. "He's fucking dead."
I sighed and pressed my fingers to my temples. "If I was an official Luna, I would order your asses to stand down. Just pretend I am and listen to me."
"If I was an official Alpha, we'd have a problem when you start ordering people to do shit I don't agree with." Darius crossed his arms. "How can you even entertain this bullshit?"
"Seriously, how many times do you need to reject his pathetic ass?" Ezra said.
"I'm not entertaining anything!" I threw my arms up. "I know why he's here and he's not getting it. I only want closure. Don't you want me to have that?"
Noah whimpered. "But Luna..."
"He has no power over me anymore," I said, my expression softening at Noah. "Our bond is severed. What's he gonna do?"
"Having lived in the same pack as that piece of shit," Levi gestured towards the direction of the gate my ex-mate was waiting outside of. It was a shock first thing this morning to have Mia pull me aside during a run and tell me José was waiting at the border, asking to talk to me. "That's exactly the problem. We don't know what he's gonna do."
The front door of the pack house opened and cracked when it hit the wall. Kane stormed down the steps with glowing eyes that focused on me only for a second. "I'll handle it."
Correction, five. How does a girl hold back five huge, angry, overprotective men?
She fucking can't with brute force, that was for sure.
"Kane." I moved in front of Kane and held my hands up. Tess why do you have to be doing Elder shit today? I need you to calm your man. "No. What's that going to help? I can handle it. Let me handle it."
Kane clenched his jaw and when he spoke, his canines were lengthened. "His presence here is unacceptable. He made his choice. The wrong one, but it was fucking made and it was made with intent to cause you pain."
"And it happened and it's over and we don't need to make this situation messier with that pack than it already is," I said. "This is my chance to talk to him without him having any way to hurt me."
"Will this help you heal and move on?" Ezra asked.
My gaze shifted to Ezra and I nodded. He flexed his hand and looked away. Several deep breaths later, he clapped his hand on Darius's back. "Not our choice to make."
Darius paced, rubbing his hands over his face. We stood in tense silence until he walked over and hugged me so tight I was teetering the precipice of being unable to breathe. "If he makes one move towards you, we'll be listening."
"I can kill him quickly," Kane said. "You won't even know it happened."
"I appreciate you, Alpha." I returned Darius's hug and spoke to Kane over Dari's shoulder. "But please back down. It's mine to settle."
