I ran. My lungs pumping sharp air down my throat, scraping it raw. I didn't care about anything else than escaping, hoping she wouldn't catch up with me. Chasing after me were werewolves, their breath forming clouds as they panted heavily, it was only a matter of time before they caught up to me. If they didn't manage to catch me the woman chasing me would. In the confusion I hadn't gotten a good look at her, but I sure as hell knew who it was.
I recognized her as soon as I saw her. I kept running, I knew what would happen if I slowed down. She would get me or the werewolves would.
I turned to look behind me once and saw her figure again. She was wearing black from head to toe, covered in a cloak with a strange symbol on it. I inhaled sharply, my breath catching in my throat as I recognized the symbol on her cloak.
It was a dragon. I knew I had every right to be terrified at that moment because the only people who would dare brand themselves with a dragon were dragon hunters and demons. They had tried to kill out dragons along with wyverns. They also had almost hunted hounds to extinction. Humans and demons who teamed up together to take down dragons, hounds, and wyverns were to be feared.
"Do something!" I thought with desperation. I searched my mind for something that I could do to protect myself against her.
As it hit me I sang the quietest I could, "Hide me in your warmth." My blood did as I commanded. I knew she couldn't see me. I stopped moving so she couldn't see my footprints moving. She snarled out of frustration and spoke out to me, "I know you're still near. Come out now before I lose patience." I didn't move and whispered a tune out to my blood, "You make me fly into the night sky." As I spoke my blood burned in my veins. The woman threw a knife to where I was only a moment ago.
I smiled as I was floating above her. I flew away from her heading to the nearby city. "She was so easy to trick." I smiled to myself.
I flew far over the forest, not quite sure where I was going. I kept flying through the air, until I saw lights from a city. I descended on the ground and sang aloud, "This is where I can be me."
I felt my blood cool and as it did I became visible and was no longer floating above the ground. As I hit the ground I remembered about the werewolves and started to run again. I knew that even if I'd outwitted the werewolves controlled by the woman, the ones nearby would still be able to smell me and come for me. I ran in the direction of the nearby city where the werewolves would disperse. Just as I had thought I saw them coming for me. They ran so fast. I was almost to the city as one of the werewolves got a hold of my cloak. I let him have it.
As I tore it off my body quickly I felt the cold pierce into my skin. I continued to run. I knew that it was only a matter of time before more found me. So I did something I knew was very risky. I did what I was taught, because the only thing that I wanted to do was to run back to him. If I got out of this, I would surely run back to him. I needed to do it now.
I needed to get away from this situation. I sighed as I knew what I had to do and sang out loud as I ran towards the city, "As we all forget about me, hold me with just the memory of my name. Darling dearest, may you all forever be in pain." As I finished singing I collapsed, hoping that I was safe for the time being, hoping that my spell worked and everyone I'd ever met was erased from my memory. If only to keep myself and them safe for now.
