Mario: The Hero(?)

Continue?

First it was slight tingling. Then seering sensation. Then a tearing sensation. Then--
"Too many damn sensations!" Mario yelled into the void, although this yell consisted of agony rather then anger. The red and blue- clad plumber could feel his skin boiling, his own blood trickling out of every pore. He felt as though he was melting, sinking deeper and deeper into the darkness that surrounded him. He feared that this may be the end...
But suddenly, light! Warm sweet light! Mario tried using his legs to walk towards this light, but found that no part of his legs remained. Not seeing any other option, he slowly crawled to the warm glow.
"Almost there" Mario said as he continued crawling. He could feel the heat of the light now, so inviting. When he was close enough to see clearly, he saw what the light source was. A giant "Continue?" sign was floating above him, bright enough to light up every room in Boo's Castle. Below him sat two glowing words: Yes and No.
"Well I do have a duty to the kingdom" Mario said to himself "And maybe Peach will give me some cake after I save her..." Mario thought back to the first time he had ever tasted Peach's cake. So soft, so succulent, so moist.... yes we're still talking about cake here. With this wonderful thought on his mind, Mario tapped the word Yes. Almost instantly, Mario found his legs back underneath him. But he found himself falling, down and down.
Mario opened his to eyes slowly. He was lying on his back, and on closer observation of his surroundings, Mario assessed that he had been transported all the way back to World 1.
"Great, now I have to start all over again. Well, I guess it could be wor--" Mario then heard a familiar voice call out to him.
"Mariooo, why are you laying on the ground?" Luigi said quizzically, staring down at his brother.
"... Why does God hate me?" With this rhetorical question, Mario got up, dusted himself off, and trudged through World 1 slowly, with his brother right at his heels.
