Mario: The Hero(?)

Super Star

We join our heroes in World 2, as they try to brave the vast desert. Will they survive and save the princesses? Probably not. Let's be honest here. The desert was a pretty shifty place. I'm sure the people here who've played Mario or Super Mario Bros. know what I mean. Anyways, their adventure continues!
Mario couldn't handle much more of this. The combination of the sun bearing down on him and the large amount of mushrooms he'd ate after dying repeatedly in the sand (how was he supposed to know that jumping would help?) was really starting to have an effect on him. Meanwhile, Luigi had breezed through the course laid out for them, and was moments away from the end flag.

"You've got to go faster then that, brother!" Luigi exclaimed with glee, effortlessly hopping from platform to platform.
"When I get over there I'm gonna kick your ass, BROTHER" Mario said, wheezing hard as he tried to keep up.
"Mario, I found a something!" Mario heard Luigi's voice from around the corner. He followed the voice and sure enough, there was a shiny golden super star, bouncing along the floor like it was alive (which unfortunately it was).
"Whoop-dee- fuckin-doo, a star. What do you want Luigi, a cookie?" said Mario sarcastically.
"I'm not fond of cookies, but that star sure will do" as Luigi said this, he hopped into the air and ate the star in one mighty gulp. The stars screams were louder then a mushroom's or fire flower's, and the brothers had to cover their ears to keep from continuing to hear the horrible shriek. For a moment nothing happened, and Mario was about to say that maybe it was a fake. Then Luigi exploded into a rainbow of color and started running at breakneck speed towards the end flag.
"I keep forgetting how bad this ends..." Mario murmured under his breath before jogging after his brother.
2 Minutes Later
Luigi woke up with a start, only to see a grinning Mario crouching over him.
"Ugh, what happened? And why does my head heart?" Luigi instinctively rubbed the back of his head.
"You ate another star Luigi" Mario said, bursting into a fit of giggles.
"What's so funny?" Luigi asked cautiously.
"See for yourself" this being said, Mario pointed behind him. What Luigi saw when he turned around could only be described as something out of a horror story. Blocks destroyed, enemies gored, a Koopling beheaded and dismembered. The entire stage reeked of blood. Luigi also saw a Toad, or at least half of him.
"Did I do that too?" Luigi said and pointed at the Toad with hesitation.
"No, that was me. The smug bastard thought it was a good idea to tell me for the second time that the princesses are in another castle" Mario looked at Luigi with the evilest grin he could muster. "But the rest is all you. Welcome to the family business, brother"
"But I thought we were just plumbers" Luigi said, putting his head in his hands. The power of the star had left him free of blood after his massacre.
"Nah that's only a hobby at this point" With that said, Mario walked with his brother into the little fort at the end of the level so they could rest until morning.
