Jedediah has been wresting his thoughts since the sun had set. Thought after thought swirling his mind like a never ending record player. Each picture involved his fantasy of his crush, Octavius. Wiping sweat off his brow, he threw the hammer down. His railroad was finally complete after 1 1/2 years of torturous work. His men cheered. He looked over the wall separating him and his destiny. There he was.
Octavius.
Tall(for their size), confident, strong in muscle, stronger in mind. Jedediah could talk about Octavius for hours on end with more to say after he thought he was done.
He decided he have had enough of this mind banter and was just going to talk to Octavius. Even if it killed him.
~Meanwhile~
Octavius was buying apples and various fruits for 3 small kids near him. Generosity is his motto. "If it can be done to help others, do it with no hesitation." is the way he guided his people. Everyone in Rome was happy as can be.
Octavius looked over his shoulder and saw a blushing cowboy. Jedediah froze and then blushed. He timidly walked over to the Emperor.
"Jedediah! My old friend! How has that railroad been treating you?" Octavius asked, arms open wide in greetings.
Friend. Owch. That hit Jedediah's heart with a force of a charging bull.
"Hey Octopus, it's been going good. We actually finished today." Jedediah replied, while barely being able to look him in the eye.
Octopus was a nickname Octavius has had for a while after Jedediah misunderstood him while they were being introduced.
"Are you alright, Jed? You seem unwell." Octavius questioned.
"N-no yeah.. I'm fine. I-it's just that, well, you k-kinda are my..." Jedediah stammered and stuttered like an old car engine.
"Spit it out, cowboy! Are you alright?" Octavius sounded worried and concerned.
That's it. Jedediah could hold on to his words no more. His mouth was a dam about to overflow with word-water. He opened his mouth to speak then Octavius pointed something out.
"Umm... Jedediah..." Octavius said. He motioned his head to a very obvious bulge in Jed's pants.
Jedediah stopped and looked down. There was a tent in his pants. He covered his face with his hands in embarrassment. Tears lines his eyes as he choked out words.
"I-i gotta go." He said his voice cracking, and his mind racing at a million miles per hour. He turned around and sprinted towards the edged wood that connects the two exhibits.
"Jedediah, wait! I command you as an Emperor to stop!" Octavius tried to get his attention but he was gone.
"That darned cowboy... when is he going to wake up and realize I love him?" Octavius said under his breath, defeated and dissapointed.
He walked back to his temple, saddened and depressed. He didn't do anything for the rest of the day. He walked the empty halls, his mind crowded with thoughts, mainly concerning Jedediah. Octavius got flustered just thinking about those striking light blue eyes and that lucious blond hair.
Octavius went to his room and shut the door.
~Meanwhile~
Jedediah ran past all of his men and into his tent. He ignored all of the questions and weird looks. He went into his tent and cried. He lied down on his bed and cried. Tears trickled down his face like rain on a car window. He was embarrassed and ashamed. How could he have succumbed to the workings of his own body? He cried until 10 minutes before dawn. He dried his tears and waited until his face wasn't so red and puffy. He went out and stood at the rail road tracks posing as usual for the morning, dreading the night to come.
Octavius had also cried. Oh, for so long he had wanted to tell that boy he loved him with his whole heart. Every waking hour was spent with him on Octs mind. Everyday was a battle his mind always won.
Octavius stood at the stairs of his temple with one hand in the air, waving to citizens down below. As the morning sun shone through the museum windows, he whispered one last thing into the crisp dawn air
"Tonight will be different, my love. Tonight will be different"
