After feeling sadness, Celine felt anger. "How am I allowing Elisa to affect me like this? We're nothing!" she thought to herself alone in her bedroom. As time passed, she became more aware that the defender had actually chosen to spend time with another girl instead of her, causing a confusing pain in her chest.
"I'm telling you, Celine, you look stunning. What did Hervé do? So I can do it too," she recalled what Elisa had said that party night and angrily threw a pillow to the floor. "Seems like she's just as much of a liar as any guy," she thought. Her sadness deepened as the random music on her playlist started playing "midnight love" by girl in red.
Celine couldn't believe she was identifying with such a heartbreaking love song. "Oh God, I'm being dramatic. I'm just like those who get an intense crush after a party kiss," she began mocking herself, although deep down she knew it wasn't an exaggeration. This was affecting her, as that party night marked a before and after in Celine's feelings for Elisa.
"I can't be your second best, close but not your favorite, I keep going back for more where there's nothing from before" the song continued.
Deciding to leave her room to find some food in the kitchen, she didn't want to stew in her thoughts and end up crying. As she stepped out, she noticed most of the others were in their rooms resting, except for Pauline. Celine decided to approach her, thinking it might be good to distract herself, especially since she sensed Elisa wasn't pleased when the goalkeeper came up in conversation.
"I thought you weren't in the house," Pauline said as she saw Celine enter the kitchen in her pajamas.
"I was resting in my room," Celine replied, "but I came out to get something for dinner."
"We can have dinner together," Pauline suggested, "I'm also on the hunt for food."
Celine realized Pauline also had that attractive and dominant vibe, but it didn't compare to Elisa. Still, she accepted dinner with her.

"Why are you so quiet, Elisa?" Baltimore asked.
Since they arrived at the restaurant with the local players, Elisa couldn't fully engage in the conversation. It seemed like her thoughts were consuming her, and she hadn't even started a conversation with the player they were supposed to meet. In her head, she could only think about how much prettier Celine looked.
"I'm not quiet," Elisa replied unenthusiastically, "just thinking about... the games these weeks."
She lied.
The feeling of regret kept swirling in her head. Upon arriving at the restaurant, she realized she was wasting every second she had with Celine. "When will I have her in the same room with me again? I shouldn't have come."
The conversation continued, and the player interested in Elisa seized every moment to get closer to her or even touch her arms. Months ago, this interaction would have pleased the defender, but now it only made her uncomfortable. She couldn't deceive herself anymore; all of this was because she was developing genuine feelings for Celine.
"I have to go," Elisa said, interrupting the conversation as she got up from her seat. They all looked at her confused, especially Baltimore.
Elisa glanced apologetically at her friend and left the restaurant, eager to see Celine, although she feared she might already be asleep, as it was getting late.
♡
Celine was already in bed, looking at Elisa's empty bed. It was a bit late, and the defender hadn't returned yet. She decided to stop thinking about it and was grateful that Pauline had accompanied her during dinner, which helped her momentarily forget about what Elisa might be doing with the other players who were eager to meet her.
