Riverdale was quiet after a while. There were no large crimes, other than the occasional stealing, now that Hiram Lodge was in jail. Everyone was able to take a much-needed breath of relief.
Cheryl Blossom had completed her final year of law school, becoming one of Riverdale's most prominent lawyers. She decided to focus her work on children of abuse as she had been in their shoes for far too long. Many times, she worked alongside her cousin, Betty Cooper who had become one of Riverdale's most feared detectives as she was known to figure out the toughest crimes in record time.
Toni Topaz was the journalism teacher at Riverdale high, as well as the head faculty member of the Blue and Gold. Toni had become the head of the school newspaper her senior year as Betty and Jughead were busy doing their detective work. Principal Weatherbee loved her work so much that he convinced her to become a teacher in the journalism department.
The two women were stronger than ever, even becoming engaged after Toni's senior year of college. Thistle house had become their sanctuary, allowing them to escape the craziness that was Riverdale to be in each other's presence. Cheryl was completely content and happy with her life, something that she was missing until she met Toni.
As Toni walking into the house one day, lugging her heavy bag of papers that needed to be graded, she noted how quiet the house was. Usually, Cheryl would have some music playing while she did her chores or she was talking out loud, to no one in particular, about a case she was working on.
"Babe, you home?" Toni called out, walking into the kitchen and putting down her bags.
"In the office!" Cheryl's voice rang out. Toni walked into their joint office to see Cheryl hard at work with papers strewn across her desk and the floor, organized into neat piles.
"What happened in here?" Toni asked as she carefully made her way over to her fiance, putting her hands on Cheryl's shoulders and kissing her cheek.
"This case is kicking my ass. There is just so much to do in such a small amount of time." Cheryl looked to Toni, who bent down and put a soft kiss to Cheryl's lips.
"Well, how about we go to Pop's for dinner and get our favorite milkshakes and burgers. It might do some good to step away and clear your head for a bit. Plus, we haven't been on a date in a while." Toni pulled Cheryl from her chair.
"Fine, but you're buying." Cheryl closed her laptop before leading Toni out of the office. A few minutes later, the couple was in Cheryl's red convertible on their way to Pop's.
Once seated in a booth and their food was ordered, the two women sat in silence.
"So, do you want to tell me about this case of yours? You don't have to go into details but at least tell me what's on your mind..." Toni grabbed Cheryl's hand. Though they were seated on the same side of the booth, they both enjoyed touching the other in a loving way.
"I can't say much, due to the law, but it pains me to see children in dire situations and I have to find a way to safely get them out. I just want these children to be safe." Cheryl softly smiled.
"Well, I know that you will be able to save these children. You have done before and you will continue to do so." Toni leaned over and kissed Cheryl on the cheek.
"Thanks, T.T." Cheryl said pulling Toni onto her body.
"Here's your food and milkshakes. Anything else can I get you, girls?" Pop Tate asked, setting their food on the table in front of them.
"Not right now, Pop. Thanks." Toni answered back, grabbing a French fry off of the plate and eating it.
As the two women were eating their dinner, talking about their days. They saw Betty and Jughead walk through the doors, with their two-year old daughter, Juliet.
"Auntie Cher and Auntie Toni!" The little girl came running up to them once she saw them.
"Hey, Jules. How have you been? I missed my little Juliet." Cheryl picked the little girl up and kissed her cheek multiple times.
"Hey, cousin Betty and Jughead. Come sit with us." Cheryl invited the couple and their little girl to the table.
"Are you sure? We don't want to intrude." Betty asked.
"You're not intruding. It'll be nice to catch up. Sit." Toni said as Juliet stole a couple of fries from her plate. Definitely Jughead's kid.
The two couples sat and ate their food, talking for a couple of hours before Juliet started to get tired and had fallen asleep in Cheryl's arms. The little girl loved her two favorite aunties. She couldn't care less that Toni and Cheryl were together, instead, she loved spending time with them.
"Well, we better put this one to bed." Betty said, taking her daughter from Cheryl's arms.
"It was nice seeing you two." Betty waved and Jughead placed a $10 bill on the table.
A few minutes later, the two women paid for their meal and left the diner holding each other's hand. The rest of the night they laid in bed watching Netflix.
Sadly this is the last part of this story. I don't know if I'm going to make a part 2 yet. I'm still deciding. Thank you so much for all the reads. I've had so much fun writing these stories.
