"The next morning, the Texas sun was already high in the sky, casting a sweltering heat through the dusty shutters of the house. I woke up early, the events of the previous day still swirling in my mind.

Heading down to the kitchen, I found Drayton busy preparing breakfast. The smell of freshly ground coffee filled the room, mingling with the enticing aroma of bacon and eggs.

"Good morning," I said timidly as I approached.

Drayton looked up from his preparations and gave me a warm smile. "Good morning, little sister. Did you sleep well?"

I nodded, although the night had been restless with disturbing dreams and swirling thoughts.

Bubba entered the kitchen as well, his leather mask still in place. Despite his intimidating appearance, he grunted a greeting when he saw me, a sign that he might be more human than he seemed.

Nubbins, on the other hand, was nowhere to be found. I wondered where he could be, hoping he hadn't wandered off into the stifling Texas heat.

As we had breakfast, Drayton filled me in on life in the house and everyone's habits. He seemed determined to make me feel at home despite the strange circumstances of our meeting.

After our exploration, Drayton and I returned to the house, our minds still filled with the stories and legends surrounding our family. Despite the sweltering heat, a gentle breeze brought some relief as we crossed the fields of golden corn.

Drayton noticed my worried look and placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry about Nubbins, little sister," he said reassuringly. "He has his wandering moments, but he always comes back home."

I gave him a weak smile, trying to push away my dark thoughts as we crossed the threshold of the house.

Inside, the air was cooler, but a heavy atmosphere of mystery lingered. Drayton offered to show me to my room, and I followed him through the dark and dusty corridors of the house.

My room was modest but comfortable, with a view of the vast stretches of land stretching as far as the eye could see. I took a few moments to unpack my things and settle in, feeling both excited and nervous about starting this new life in this remote corner of Texas.

As the sun slowly set on the horizon, I realized that I had ventured into a world filled with mysteries and uncertainties, but also endless possibilities. And despite the challenges that lay ahead, I knew deep down that I was ready to face the unknown with courage and determination.

In the days that followed, I struggled to adjust to my new life within this strange and mysterious family. Drayton helped me acclimate to our daily routine, showing me the household chores to be done and the rules of the house to follow.

Meanwhile, Nubbins continued his solitary escapades, sometimes disappearing for hours before reappearing as if by magic, always with a wild story to tell about his encounters and adventures on the roads of Texas.

Bubba, on the other hand, mostly remained secluded in his own space, working in his workshop and keeping to himself. His silence was sometimes unsettling, but I sensed that he harbored deep secrets and unexpressed emotions within him.

Despite the tensions and mysteries that pervaded the house, I found some comfort in the daily routine and in the budding bonds I was forming with my new brothers.

And as the days passed and I grew more accustomed to my new life, I began to catch glimpses of the secrets buried in the dark corners of this house and the unsettling truths waiting to be uncovered."
