Lancelot always looked at himself as an outcast. During royal events, he was always hiding in corners, trying to hide in bathrooms and when people tried to talk to him, he felt uncomfortable, felt like he didn't belong. Most of it had to do with him being a hybrid, everyone he knew was one race, either; a fairy, giant, human, etc. But, he was one of the only hybrids (fairy and human). That was, until he met Tristan Liones. Once he met Tristan, he felt like he met someone who finally understands him, met someone who he could talk to that wouldn't judge him, met someone who he could call his friend. But, all of that had to come to an end, as Lancelot left one mysterious night with Master Jericho and never came back. Everyone in Benwick, the Fairy King's Forest and Liones were appalled to hear that the Prince of Benwick was missing. Elaine was sobbing everyday and night, wondering if her son would ever come back, and Ban tried to keep his nonchalant act up. But, eventually he couldn't fake it any longer. One day, he suddenly bursted out crying, as he didnt know if his son was safe and he was worried. However, no one suffered as much as Tristan did. To Tristan, it felt like he lost his best and only friend. When Lancelot left, he became depressed and didn't want to leave his home, it took a lot of convincing from Elizabeth to even get Tristan to eat. After about a year since Lancelots disappearance, Tristan finally return to "normal", yet he was still off, he was never the same happy kid he used to be, and everyone could tell.
Lancelot was gone for around 6 years and during those 6 years, Tristan started to heal slowly, and soon had forgotten about Lancelot's disappearance. One year ago, Lancelot finally returned to the Kingdom of Benwick, but rumour had it that he kept himself locked up in his room, not talking to anyone. As, he apparently went through some traumatic events during those 6 years he was away. Nevertheless, no was for certain, since Lancelot never spoke to anyone about it. Tristan doesn't know all the details, but he did know that Ban and Elaine sent a letter to his parents saying that Lancelot was back, just wasn't talking to them yet. Though, he was occasionally nodding or smiling. Tristan honestly wanted to say "hi" to his childhood friend, yet he felt like Lancelot wouldn't remember him. Due to Tristan hearing that Lancelot hadn't been out of his room for a year, that's why he was so astonished that Lancelot was working at his parents Café.
"Hey, long time no see, Tristan." Said Lancelot. "That's all you have to say? Where have you been all these years?" "It's none of your business." Grumbled Lancelot. "Why not? You left without saying anything, everyone was worried sick about you." Said Tristan, he wanted to add something but decided not to. "Can you just please shut up and start eating?" Said an annoyed Lancelot. "But I have so many questions..." "Well I'm not going to answer them." "Can we at least catch up one day?" Said Tristan happily. "No." "Lancelot, stop being mean to your friend." Scolded Elaine. "Whatever." Replied Lancelot, and walked away. "Sorry about him, he hasn't been the same since he came back..." Elaine mumbled." "Oh, how come?" "I don't even know, he won't talk about. Ban and I used to interrogate him, but he gave us the same responds he gave you. So, over time we stopped." Tristan nodded and ate his sandwich. Elaine then left to serve more customers.
As Lancelot was walking home to see his fiancé, he started to think about Tristan. He genuinely missed the fun they used to have when they were kids and he deeply regretted how he treated Tristan. But after a year, he still wasn't ready to tell people what happened. All he could think about was how he couldn't save his best friend.
"Hello Guinevere." Lancelot said with no emotion, as he entered the cabin they've been staying in. It wasn't his choice to live in this cabin, it was his parents. If it were up to Lancelot, he would still be in the Castle of Benwick, grieving in his own room. But, he is forced to marry Guinevere through an arranged marriage. Lancelot hated the idea of an arranged marriage, he also wanted to choose the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Plus, with the timing of him grieving and returning to Benwick, he couldn't fathom getting married. He didn't like Guinevere, he found her quite annoying actually. She claimed to have this power of seeing the future when it only revolves around her, but he thinks she's lying.
