"I want a divorce." He stiffened, eyes wide.
"You want a what now?" Her eyes filled with tears.
"You heard me."Her mouth was shut. He tightened his fists.
"Where'd this come from?"His voice was hurt. Really hurt.
"Don't act like this was ever real Tobu..." He inhaled and grew closer until he had her pressed back against the wall.
"Who put you up to this Lee?" She took a shaky breath.
"No-Nobody."
"No, somebody put this idea in your head and I wanna know who. Was it Kei? My mother? Who was it?" She was quiet.
"Answer me, Leah."
"It's something I've thought about... for a little while now."She turned her face and sighed.
"Rae had the best intentions with us. She wanted us to work out. But you know and I know that we aren't right for each other."
"I know we had a rocky start. A really rocky start. But, can't you see the progress we've made? You're willing to throw all of that away?"His voice was bruised, an open testament to the emotions rising in him. She swallowed tightly.
"It was never gonna work out. No matter how we lie to ourselves." His hands left the wall and slid around her waist, pulling her against him. She closed her eyes and took a shaky breath. He felt so good... so right. She hated that he had managed to worm his way into her heart when she hadn't given him permission to. He caused her control to waver and she hated it.
"The only one still lying is you, Leah."
"Let go of me."
"No." Lifting arms upward, she pushed and struggled against him but it only made him tighten his grip on her.
"If you wanna run then fine. But I'll come after you. Each and every time. You won't escape this."
"Get OFF!"
"Not until you admit it! Stop making this so fucking hard." His words caused her to weaken her shove and she felt her eyes fill with tears.
"We didn't start out loving each other. I know that. But...I do now. I love you now."
"No you don't." He lowered his hands to her face and lifted it upward until she couldn't run from his gaze either.
"You don't have to be scared to love me back Lee. I'm not going anywhere."She closed her eyes, breath shaky.
"It's okay to say you resent me."
"What?" Her voice was low and quiet.
"Instead of acting like the nice guy all the damn time, just admit that you blame me for the kids we lost. Your family blames me already."
"Why the hell would I ever blame you?" "Because. I've lost every single one. Isn't that why they even allowed us to get together? I was only supposed to be a baby factory and I can't even do that shit right. I would rather see you with someone else." He took her breath away when he shook her suddenly.
"Don't talk about yourself like that Leah." His eyes were serious, filled now with pain.
"I don't give a damn how it happened or what the circumstances were. You are my wife. Do you think I'm going to leave you because of that? We can keep trying. We can adopt. It doesn't matter to me." She shook her head now, fingers gripping his forearms.
"I love you. You're the best fucking thing that ever happened to me and I'm not leaving you. Do you understand me?" He pressed his forehead against hers.
"You're not the only one who has suffered through the loss. I wanted our children just as much as you did. It was never one sided. It hurt me just as much as it did you."Tears wet her skin.
"I've been there ever step of the damn way with you. Through the tears, the fights, the loneliness, the depression. No matter how much you've pissed me off, not once have I ever thought about giving up."Making her look up at him, the grief, the pain, hurt, the love in his eyes broke her down but this time, he refused to let her look away.
"Don't you dare give up on me Lee." She felt the tears of her own fall down her cheeks.
"We can make this work. But only if you wanna make it work too. I can't fight for us alone." The last shred of her resolve shattered and she lifted her hands to pull him closer by the shirt. Leaning up to kiss him, she shivered as his hands touched her, all over. Wordless, she accepted the tender kisses against her jaw, just underneath her chin, against her neck. He was in pursuit and she let his hands, breath, lips and teeth roam. Heavy hands drifted below her waist and grabbed the cheeks of her ass.
