"Uzi, you're listening, right?" N turned his head with a quick sigh, looking at Uzi, who had her head in a compartment. Picking at wires. "Yeah," she replied, her voice quiet as she worked. He crossed his arms. "Uzi, come on.". Uzi groaned and pulled herself out of the little hole and pushed her wrench down in a box with a little CLINK! as it hit most of the other tools and screws below. "Okay, fine." She crossed her arms and tilted her head. "When you go out, promise not to go past the closest buildings beyond the spire." He paused. "It's dangerous." Uzi let out a deep, annoyed sigh, but she could tell N was serious. Standing up, she looked straight at N and half smiled. "Yeah, sure," she replied before walking towards the ladder. "I'll be back soon, Kay.".
{i promise V is there, shes just.. SILENT TEEHEE}
And Uzi was off; she had crashed down into the snow as she jumped from the pod hatch. She groaned loudly, patting herself off, and set out to see a few buildings she saw pretty close to the spire. The snow blocked most of her vision, but it wasn't the worst storm Uzi had seen, nor did she walk in. She thought it was quite nice; as the flurries fell from the sky, Saturn was visible from where she stood. She smiled and kept moving; her feet made footprints in the snow. The crunching had distracted her for quite a while before she got to the door of a building that seemed to have had two giant glass windows in the front, though now they were just two gaping holes. She assumed these must have been to showcase something. She opened the door, and a bell rang. She jumped and looked around. Two skeletons were sitting on the ground, rather dry. Most of the bodies she'd seen were covered in ice and gross. This building was in the middle, so it must have been the most protected.
Uzi had ventured deeper into the store; she found it was a clothing store attached to a convenience store. It wasn't what she was looking for, but it eased her mind to look at all this human stuff. She found an electronic store, but it passed the spire and was pretty far out. She bit her lip and decided to keep looking, closer to the spire, in fear that she would probably get mad if she didn't listen. She found maybe three more stores, each of which had nothing of value but a few batteries and screws. An hour went by of Uzi silently finding useless things, and randomly, she forgot N's warning completely. but she did remember the electronic store. It was pretty big, with a sign on top that read "ELECTRONICS HERE!!" She shrugged and began to walk through the abandoned, snow-covered roads. She found a few cars and looted them for anything she'd need, placed them in her big bag, and left. She reached the location quickly and walked inside. This place was much bigger, and it was so much more damaged than the ones she'd been in before. It wasn't too hard to find a few things she needed, but she wasn't very satisfied, so she kept looking.
CRAASSSHHHHH!!
Uzi jumped, She felt her heart drop as she looked around. Where did that come from? She hissed, decided to stay cautious, and hid behind a desk, hitting the half-open cash register. The sound echoed throughout the empty space. The poor worker yelped and pushed herself into the enclosed space under the counter, catching her breath.
A loud laugh—was it V? No, V is back at the pod; she knew it. Her eyes darted around the room as the unsettling sound stopped.
She shook in fear. She recalled N warning her and sighed. Of course, she got herself into this! Uzi tried her hardest to keep herself quiet, though she was fighting the need to groan. The purple drone pushed herself away from the desk and stupidly stuck her head up. Nothing was there, but she could still hear the sound of footsteps scratching. Uzi bit her lip, and her gaze fell on the stairs on the far side of the store. She debated running for it. 'You've got this.' she whispered to herself, lightly pushing herself up with her fists. Now, sprinting to the stairs on the right side of the building; it had three floors, and she planned to hide in the middle. But as she finished climbing the stairs, she paused. "Where are you going, little one?" This voice mocked her; she could hear it close. She shivered. not able to think straight. "You know, I can see you," she cackled and smashed the wall down, right in front of Uzi. The wall debris flew everywhere, with a large piece hitting Uzi and knocking her back, earning a small yelp from the worker.
Uzi saw another disassembled drone. She was staring straight at the little worker. Uzi knew that look. This drone looked at her like she was a meal. "Well, well, what's a cutie like you doing out here alone?" She giggled, her wings flapping roughly before landing, and she approached Uzi quickly. The little drone couldn't even speak; she was frozen in fear. "You got a death wish, darling?" The drone growled, crashing its hand into Uzi's chest. Uzi gasped and felt herself being slammed into the wall. "I'm going to have fun toying with you." Her voice was mocking as she moved her claws toward Uzi's chin. The way that dissembler stared at her, she knew she stood no chance. With digital tears streaming down her visor, she felt a sharp pain as the drone began to press one of its claws into her chest. causing the little purple drone to cry out in pain. The girl giggled at this and pulled her finger out, licking her claw.
Right as Uzi opens her mouth to say something snarky, something to make the bot at least hurry up, She hears another crash. The disassembly drone looks to the side to see her eyebrows furrowed, most likely scanning this new entity. While the drone was distracted, Uzi slammed her foot into its abdomen, causing the drone to fall back. Uzi cried out in relief. N hadn't ever even reacted; he never even stopped. One second later, the drone that was trying to kill her was there, but she wasn't. Uzi fell to her knees as she heard the loud sounds of metal on metal. She stared down at the ground, pulling up her memory file and playing it on repeat, slower and slower each time. That look in his eyes—he was—what was that? She had never seen N so angry. Something in her told her that girl wasn't going to make it out alive. She ran to the hole N made on the opposite side of the room. She held onto the edge of the wall, holding herself up. while one hand held her where she had been injured. Oil leaked out all over her hands, causing her to hiss, but she forced herself to stare down. She saw N holding a dissembler's arm, and her hand flew up to her mouth as her eyes hollowed. She squelched at the oil she smeared onto her face but forced herself to get over it.
It was really horrific; she almost lost her footing, but luckily fell onto her back and not forward. She could feel herself ready to faint—to just fall down and play dead. She was so scared and embarrassed. She knew she wasn't going to listen. She sighed. He knew her so well that he had to follow her. Uzi shakily sighed as she looked down at her chest; the wound was gone, but the oil that stained her coat was not.
"Uzi?" A familiar voice called from in front of her. She quickly looked up, and N stared down at her. He stood tall. “What did I tell you!?” He scolded, causing Uzi to wince. He was mad at her. She avoided eye contact. “You could have been seriously hurt! What if I wasn't here?” He sounded frantic. N moved closer and knelt down. His hands cradled her face, tilting it up to look at him.
“Uzi,” he started, a shake in his voice. “I’m not mad,” he sighed, and Uzi frowned. She knew that was a lie. Her chassis wired loudly as she stared into his eyes. N retracted his wings and helped Uzi up. “I- uh..” Uzi paused and looked away, lightly scratching the back of her neck. “Thanks, you know. For, um, saving me or whatever,” she blushed, and N smiled in response.
The two bots decide to head back to the spire, and though Uzi seemed off, N pushed her to go back. He didn't want her out this far without company.
