INT. JAMES'S HOUSE - NIGHT (2 YEARS AGO)
Betty sits in her room staring down at her phone, her eyes filled with tears as she confronts him about his lies. James looks away, unable to meet his eyes with the phone.
BETTY:
How could you lie to me about your grandpa being hospital even after I opened up to you about my own pain!
James fumbles for words, his guilt palpable.
JAMES:
I... I didn't know how to tell you. But....in my Defense...I...I've been really depressed...
BETTY:
that's absolutely no excuse James?! How could you do this to me of all people
This argument continues on for around 5 minutes with James telling Betty he is going to end his life because of her Bettys heart drops in her chest she goes to apologise to James but he's already blocked her contact on his phone
BACK TO PRESENT:
Betty's friends, LYLA and ARIA, approach her with concern etched on their faces.
LYLA:
Betty, are you okay? You seem distant lately.
Betty nods, but her thoughts drift back to James. Despite the betrayal, she can't shake the memories of their time together.
INT. SCHOOL CAFETERIA - DAY
Betty sits alone at a table waiting for her friends to come, lost in thought, when suddenly, James's friends approach her. Unlike before, they seem friendly which scared Betty even more...
TATE (James's friend):
Hey Betty
Betty's confusion deepens...why would he randomly speak to her after all the mean things they would say to her she watches Tate walk back over to James
INT. STREET - DAY
Betty walks home watching the world go by. LYLA and ARIA join her, their concern evident.
ARIA:
Betty, we know you still have feelings for James...
Betty looks at her friends in shock while fumbling her words
BETTY:
Why would you think that...
LYLA:
We see how you look at him...it's how you used to look at him...
Betty looks down in sadness as she reminisces on the times were her and James were close
LYLA:
but he's not good for you. You deserve better. We've been down this road before
Aria nods in agreement, but Betty's heart remains conflicted. Despite the warnings, she can't shake the curiosity nagging at her.
PARK NEXT TO THE SCHOOL - SUNSET

HIGH SCHOOL CAFETERIA - DAY
Betty sits at a table with Lyla and Aria, their expressions serious as they exchange concerned glances.
LYLA:
Betty, we need to talk.
Betty looks up, sensing the gravity of the situation.
BETTY:
What's going on?
ARIA:
We're worried about you, Betty. It's been two years since James and you, and yet you're still holding onto those feelings.
Betty's eyes flicker with emotion, but she remains silent, knowing deep down that her friends are right.
