Sephran chuckled a bit as he nodded his head to confirm the trio's fears. "Surprised to hear that?" He shrugged. "Would it be worse to say that I know about you three as well?" Gadget was confused. "How..." He asked. Sephran pointed at his right eye, which flashed to show strange memories. "I have a distinct ability to see my opponents life as if it were my own. I know everything and anything about you. Although the television I got nothing on." Sephran grunted. But then he focused on Gadget. "Doesn't matter, all I need to know is you took the one thing I've been focusing my entire life on. That prophecy was for me, that power was meant to reside inside of my spirit. And you took it." He said with a tone that could burn forests with an intensity of the sun. Gadget got into a battle stance, but James just walked forward. "I've had my fair share of overcompensating brats who think the entire world belongs to them. If it really was yours to fulfill, then why did everything say otherwise... Including the prophecy itself?" he boldly asked. Sephran looked a bit surprised. "Well, the 60's cigarette mascot thinks he's hot stuff then. How's that amputated arm doing?" He asked in a cocky manner as his eye showed the memory of Cerulean chopping James' arm clean off. The stick figure simply let out a toothy smirk, one he hadn't done in a long time. "Oh it's doing just fine. But I gotta ask... How's your spine?" He questioned. Sephran was confused. "My wha-" Before the reptile could finish, James used his arm and pistol to propel forward. He suddenly appeared behind Sephran, using the brief moment to punch him in the back at full force with his prosthetic. The reptile felt pure pain, coughing up a brief instance of blood before being sent flying out of the small cave. Gadget and Visvio looked back, surprised at the sudden first blow. Sephran wiped the blood off his mouth, chuckling softly. "Damn you're good. But not good enough!" He roared as he let out a grand shockwave, the bodies of the fallen soldiers flying out of the room. The force nearly swept the three off their feet, but they stood their ground as they prepared for the fight of their lives. Gadget took the first move and ran towards Sephran, hoping to strike. However, the reptile dodged without hesitation, grabbing Gadget by the tail, and throwing him into a bundle of rocks. Gadget got back up and used his grappling hook to wrap Sephran, pulling the wire to bring the reptile close enough for a direct punch to the face. James used this opportunity to kick Sephran in the head to stop the reptiles trajectory, sending him straight to the ground. Sephran got back up as he slammed his hand onto the ground, causing it to crack and rupture. As the three were dodging the sudden destruction, Gadget noticed Sephran dashing towards him. He braced himself as the reptile punched his block. Visvio, suddenly, dashed towards the reptile, punching him right in the gut before kicking him upwards in the head. The reptile wiped some blood off his mouth. "You... You're a new one, I can't even get a memory." He said, his eye trying to find anything, but was left blank. The reptile let out a sinister smile. "Guess that means nobody will remember you when I tear your motherboard OUT OF YOUR BODY!" He yelled out, seemingly getting more unstable. Sephran attempted to slash Visvio, but the robot dodged in the nick of time and punched him right back. James noticed his monitor head said something new, "Initiating Combat Protocol." Right as it finished, Visvio then spun-kicked Sephran into a rock. The reptile got up, confused at this sudden combat. Visvio looked at him with a determined face, stating only one sentence. "I'm not one to throw a punch, but at the same time, I'm not going to take one either." At that moment, Gadget suddenly powered up, emitting another slight shockwave. Visvio noticed and gasped. "It wasn't a fake after all!" He said to himself. Gadget quickly set his wispon to burst, sending a wall of fire towards Sephran, who dodged out of the way. James quickly shot a missile onto some rocks above Sephran, trapping the reptile and giving the trio a moment to breathe. Gadget was breathing heavily at the sudden boost. Visvio landed next to the wolf. "Gadget! I know how we can win." He spoke. Gadget was a bit surprised, showing an expression that read interest in the robot's idea. "You get stronger the more chaotic a fight gets right? So if we can crank this up to a 15, who knows what'll happen?" He stated. Gadget's eyes widened. "You're right. But we can't just rely on that." He replied. Visvio nodded. "I understand, but we got this!" He exclaimed with an optimistic tone. Sephran punched through the debris, freeing himself, yet his injuries were visible. "Tell me wolf, what's the real reason why you're here. I assume it's to defeat me and get this?" The reptile held up a vial. Gadget's face turned into anger and shock. "That's the cure for Dex's poison isn't it?" He asked. Sephran nodded. "If ya want it... Come and get it." He said, putting the vial in his pocket and spreading his arms out to intimidate the wolf, his eye beginning to twitch as his movements began to look less coordinated. James and Visvio joined in, ready to fight. However, Sephran looked at them with death glares. He dashed quickly, appearing behind the trio. James and Visvio attempted to strike, but Sephran punched both of them in the face, sending them flying. "PIPE DOWN, I FIGHT THE MOCKERY OF MY JOURNEY ALONE." He roared. Gadget was shocked, but quickly regained his composure as he ran towards Sephran as the reptile did the same, however he was running on all fours like an animal. The two clashed once more. Gadget noticed the sudden shift in Sephran's personality and fighting style, it wasn't normal. He saw the reptile's eye focusing on more memories, all flashing insanely fast. "he's unable to handle viewing so much in a short burst." Gadget thought to himself. Sephran noticed Gadget's solemn look. "That look in your eyes. You feel sorry for me, don't you!?" he exclaimed, headbutting Gadget and stunning the wolf. "You dare make me feel like nothing, AFTER EVERYTHING I HAVE DONE TO TRY AND GET THIS POWER FOR MYSELF?!" He screamed, his mind getting worse. Gadget got back into a battle position, gaining another boost due to the chaos. "I'm not! I want to help." He said. Sephran's eye twitched, cracking a bit too." "Help...Help?" He said, his mood changing once again, this time more silent. He chuckled softly. "That's rich, coming from a fool. Tell me. How is your brother?" Gadget's face turned pale. "W-what..." He asked. Sephran showed another toothy grin. "Nearly died from that jackal, and is only now almost fully recovered? Perhaps I should pay him a visit." Sephran stated. His face shifted into one of pure bloodlust and insanity, at this point, the reptile was close to pure mental shutdown. "And I'd love to show him my blades." Gadget quickly ran towards Sephran, fury in his eyes as he punched and kicked the reptile, who did nothing but laugh. Gadget punched Sephran right in the face, roaring with anger and full power, it did nothing. The wolf was horrified, and Sephran was furious. "YOU INSIGNIFICANT WRETCH!!!" He roared as he kicked Gadget in the stomach, the wolf coughing out blood as he fell to the floor. As he slowly got up, his muffled ears barely picked up what Sephran was yelling. "THIS PROPHECY WAS FOR ME, NOT YOU! YOU'RE JUST A SCARED LITTLE CHILD PLAYING HERO, JUST LIKE HOW YOU WERE BACK THEN." He yelled, his eye showing memories of Gadget's lowest points, the loss of his parents, the stress and trauma he went through against Infinite and the empire, and when his sacrifice against Unknown failed. The wolf got on his feet, still trying to fight, but the reptile kept dodging and punching back. Sephran was able to strike Gadget right in the face, cracking his glasses slightly and staggering the wolf a bit. He walked back, afraid, and unable to think straight, but instantly stopped as he looked back, seeing a large cliff behind him. Sephran grabbed a blade and attempted to stab the wolf, but Gadget quickly grabbed it, doing his best to hold onto it and ensure it didn't reach him. Gadget struggled to move, Sephran had him cornered. If the wolf tried to do anything, he'd either be taken down or sent falling to his doom. He looked at the struggling James and Visvio, shedding a few tears. "I-I failed everyone. I can't save Dex, I can't save the others, I can't even save myself!" he exclaimed, almost crying. "Am I really the one this prophecy wanted me to be?" He continued, his strength seemingly fading. Visvio decided one last idea could help. He threw multiple bombs across the zone, each exploding at different times. James was confused, but instantly realized what the robot planned. And at that exact moment, as Gadget felt defeat, a surge arose through him. The chaos of the battle has reached a peak. His aura began to flow freely. He looked surprised, and Sephran had a face of pure fury. He dashed towards the wolf, hoping to stop the oncoming event. But it was too late, Gadget's eyes turned pure white as his power maxed out. The shockwave sent Sephran flying. When he got up, he saw the wolf, but he looked... different. His fur was a shade of magenta that morphed into a slight crimson, almost as if he were glowing. His eyes were a gradient of orange shades. The flowing aura made him look as if he was a divine being. "No... NO! I WILL NOT ALLOW SUCH POWER TO BE WASTED ON THE LIKES OF YOU!" Sephran yelled out as he struck Gadget in the face. But when he looked, was nowhere to be found. He looked back and was struck by a burst of flames. He opened his eyes and saw a silhouette running towards him through the fire. Before Sephran could think, Gadget unleashed a barrage of attacks. The wolf did not miss a single time, every attack, every moment of impact, was targeted. To say it was 100% of his power would be an understatement, it was as if his power reached a point further than any number could calculate. As Sephran looked at Gadget, he could see through his memories, past and future. On one side, he saw a scared, young wolf, looking at death in the face with nothing but fear in his eyes. But on the other... was that same wolf, only a year later, power reaching a point beyond belief, the look in his eyes only giving out one meaning, Determination Gadget was no longer a rookie, he was a true hero. Before Sephran could fight back, Visvio and James ran towards him on opposing sides. The two started connecting punches and kicks left and right, weakening the reptile. Sephran unleashed a shockwave to blow them away, however it was for naught. James stabbed his robot arm into the ground while Visvio's legs formed spikes to stay grounded. The two used this chance to wrap a rope around Sephran, keeping the reptile stuck. As the two tightened the rope, staying in place, Sephran noticed Gadget. "I've been told many times to give up, accept my fate, or just die. But every time I hear those phrases, I remind them of one small mistake." Gadget began to say. He pointed his wispon gauntlet towards Sephran and set it to "Obliterate." had a look of pure determination. "I AM STILL STANDING!!!" He roared as he activated the gauntlet, causing a grand beam to fire out, engulfing everything in its path. tried to stop the blast, but it was futile. The blast engulfed him as well. James and Visvio were blown away even with their support, which allowed Sephran to break free of his bonds and began running towards Gadget at full speed. However, so did the wolf. The two struck each other, however, only one fell. Sephran looked at his body cracking into pieces and light piercing through the open wounds. He roared out in agony. Gadget quickly jumped into a nearby ditch and braced for impact as he summoned a shield bubble around him. Sephran soon became a large explosion, turning everything around him into dust. After the blast concluded, and it was safe, Gadget got up, still in his strange new enhanced form. He cleaned his glasses and looked at the destruction around him. He began to breathe heavily, the adrenaline in his veins finally running out. He sat down, caught his breath, and smiled. Then, he heard a voice come from his headset, what was left of it anyways. "Hey Gadget! okay? Visvio and I got knocked back but we're still here!" James exclaimed with concern in his voice. Gadget answered. "Yeah! He's gone... I'll be back as soon as-." Gadget stopped immediately as he noticed something near him. It was Sephran, but he was completely decimated. The only things that remained from his explosive defeat were his upper torso, head, and right arm. Gadget continued to speak to James. "Just give me some time." He concluded. Gadget walked over to Sephran and crouched to be near eye level. Sephran struggled to look up. "Don't taunt me, you've succeeded." He groaned. He held his hand out to the wolf and opened his fist to reveal a strange vial. "Take it, cure your ally. However, just be aware that your new abilities will result in greater consequences." He mentioned. Gadget got up, looking down at the one who brought everything to this moment. "I won't have to be afraid." He replied. He grabbed the vial and put it in one of his pockets. "Not anymore." He mentioned as he began to walk away. Sephran did nothing but watch him leave, with a smile on his face. "Heh, you know, I was wrong." He suddenly uttered. Gadget looked back, a slight hint of surprise and confusion on his face. "All my life, I thought I was the one worth of such power. Constantly furious as to why I was not considered the one the prophecy spoke of. But you, you showed me the things I never had. Companionship, and true courage. Despite all my battles, and victories, I never did them to help others, or even be a hero. I did it all for myself, in hopes of achieving something I could never even hold in my hand." Sephran said. Gadget simply listened, returning to base form. "All I hope from you, is that you keep going. Don't let the flame die out and ensure that your new awakening brings you to greater heights. Succeed in where I could not. Can you... promise me that...?" Sephran asked, beginning to lose consciousness. Gadget nodded yes; a solemn look was visible in his eyes. Sephran smiled faintly as his life slowly concluded, his eyes too heavy to stay open, and his heart beating no more.
