Rated mature for gun violence and attempted murder.
Jin Guangyao swallows dryly as he stares down the barrel of the gun. Behind the weapon, Nie Huaisang remains stoic, eyes fixated on him like a hunter who's come face-to-face with the most elusive buck of the season. Jin Guangyao shuts his eyes, almost pained by who this is and what his actions have wrought.
He blinks them open again, and his memory overlaps with his vision. He laughs in exasperation, sharp eyes, strong hate, and a hand with a sting that strikes him to the core.
"You look like Mingjue like this," he says. He notes the way Nie Huaisang's grip tightens.
"I don't wish to hear that from the likes of you," he answers. "However, it may be, I'm doing this for me, not for my brother's sake. I may live peacefully once I know you're dead and buried." Jin Guangyao frowns at that.
"Is that all you're killing me for? A bit of revenge, some peace of mind?" he asks monotonously before heaving a deep and heavy sigh. For once, his form sags, and Jin Guangyao looks painfully tired. "A-Sang. For years, I have been the benevolent lover of hate and the rotten friend of cruelty. I thought that ridding Mingjue from my life would have done the same thing that you are seeking now in my death. Don't follow in my footsteps."
Nie Huaisang wavers. He grinds his teeth, hand trembling, and finally, he drops the pistol.
"I hate you." His voice cracks. "For what you've done, and all the love you've given me. I hate you."
Nie Huaisang lurches forward and shoves his lips against Jin Guangyao's. A sob. A cry. Jin Guangyao strains against the handcuffs and wants nothing more than to wrap his arms around the other man.
Instead, he says, "I know."
