WAKE UP ASSHOLE! Where are we? Bastard wake up! Atlas yelled in Alaric's mind, causing him to groan.Shut up.
What the fuck did you do? I smell a human!
That made Alaric open one eye, which landed on a sleeping female. Wide awake, he scrambled up off the bed.
No! No! No! No! Atlas whined. You fucked a girl! You fucking asshole! Her smell is all over you! Ew, there's fluids stuck to you! What the hell is wrong with you? You betrayed the bond! The one thing you promised to never do!
Fuck! Looking around for his stuff, he had to grab his clothes from all over the room. It was your nagging that started this. I didn't mean for this to happen, I only wanted to forget everything for a few hours. Alaric walked out the door before the human girl woke up.
Don't you dare try to blame me for your shit! Oh my Goddess, what have you done? You caused mate pain! You went to a motel? You're a fucking douchebag asshole. Do you feel any remorse for abusing our mate?
What do I care? Why do you care? She caused us pain!
Get your head out of your ass! Mom died when we were twelve! Do you remember how old Heidi was? Atlas took over, shifting into a wolf to run back to Phantom.
So what?
She was nine! Nine, you shithead! Her wolf hadn't woken up yet. Let me ask you, again, how the hell a nine year old girl could kill her parents? That takes a ton of hate to do something like that. We grew up with Heidi. George and Shelly were like second parents to us. Hell, George was a better father than Archer ever was! Why do you cling to this belief that she killed three full-grown wolves?
Alaric was silent. There wasn't much of anything that Atlas didn't know. They shared a body and mind after all. Somehow, he had kept this thought hidden all these years. Realization dawned on Atlas.
You've always suspected Archer. After all this time, you didn't want to face the fact that father killed mother. Heidi didn't do it.
I know. Alaric said softly. It was easier to hate and blame someone already dead. Dad said he executed her. I had already lost the most important people in my life. It was better to believe the lie than lose him, too.
Because of you, we might lose her again. Atlas wasn't yelling anymore. I'm still pissed at you.
I know.
You've got a lot of groveling to do. I mean heaps.
I know.
Can we be happy that she's alive and we found our mate?
Yes and no, we can't tell anyone yet. I haven't figured out his angle. Why say she's dead then hide her all this time?
Good question. Want me to ask Avalanche about it?
NO! For fucks sakes, they don't want us knowing she's alive. If you ask his wolf, then you show our hand. We need to talk to her first. Find out why and how she's been here all these years.
If she forgives you.
Shit. I'm sorry I messed up.
You're not forgiven by me until she does. The first thing you do is take a damn shower. Scrub until you get rid of the stench. Then go buy her dozens of flowers. And candy.
The only wolves up at five in the morning were patrols, and they bowed to him as he passed by. No one tried to stop Atlas. He growled at anyone who didn't get out of his way. He shifted right before going into the house. Her scent floated to his nose, knowing she was inside calmed him slightly.
