"I go back to your chapter all the time.
I read it again and again
The only thing that ever stays consistent, is that it ends.

I leave handwritten notes in the margin and different colored posts sticking out in every direction.

Even though there aren't many pages, there are so many details to mull over

I've heard what makes it a good story is being able to interpret it differently each time.
I know we did something right.
Because you're the hero in yours, and you're the villain in mine.

The writing on the pages is entirely accurate, exactly how it happened.

Your chapter is the reason my book will not sit flat.
It's the part that forces itself open when I lay it on the counter on its back.

The pages are worn out and tarnished in a way that the others are not.
But I guess the pages and I have more in common than I thought.

It's the kind of wear and tear that only happens when something is studied rather than read.
It's been looked at so many times, there's no way I could have not memorized every word your character ever said.

I'm scared that even though your narrative doesn't deserve it, it might stand the test of time.

But I guess I can't blame you for that.

Because after all, the book is mine"

September 1978; Manila, Philippines

President Ferdinand Emmanuel Edralin Marcos is the tenth president of the Philippines, elected twice and has been in the office since December 30,1965.

Almost thirteen years.

Since the full liberation of the Philippines in 1946 after World War II ended, it's on his term that the full economic recovery for the country started.

Whilst it was seen to be a great part of his legacy, everything went down after he signed that proclamation on September 21, 1972.

Proclamation 1081.

The Martial Law.

He maintained the peace for the greater part of the country. He sequestered private companies of the oligarchs turning them over to a state run companies.

To others, he is a hero. He fought for equality by bringing the unfair practices of those businessmen to their knees. He brought down commodity prices by alleviating taxes from the source. He's hell bent in trying to end the insurgency.

But he's the villain to those he crossed paths with. He made a number of enemies. Enemies who vowed to not only take back what he took from them, but to also take what's his.

His position.
His name.
His honor.

And the only thing that matters to him the most- his family.

His Presidential Decree last September 14, 1973 sealed the fate that will forever burn for him and who would be his greatest foe.

Don Luis Ma. Zaragosa Araneta.

President Marcos exercised his emergency powers, issuing PD 293 with immediate effect. This cancels the sales certificate of all TCT's (Transfer Certificate of Titles) covering three parcel of land with an aggregate area of 156 hectares in North Caloocan, more commonly known as "Pangarap Village". The land then open for sale and disposition to the members of Malacañang Homeowners Association.

The owner of the land? Carmel Farms Inc.

The owner of CFI? Don Luis Araneta.

It was the President's decree that saved 31,538 people from being homeless. But it is the same decree that will lead to his youngest child becoming the sacrificial lamb, the collateral damage.

The initial plan was to kill Bongbong.
But that's not something Don Luis would do, not even to his worst enemy.

So they diverted the attention to the youngest.

The young and beautiful Irene.
The shy and quiet one.
Also, the President's favorite.

Ibang dagok ang maibibigay kay Ferdinand, kung si Irene ang masasaktan- sa kamay ng kalaban.

It's a no brainer afterwards.
They will use Irene to hurt the President. When his mental state crumbles down to the sight of his heartbroken daughter, Ninoy with the help of NPA will takeover.

Don Luis will regain control over his businesses and his land.

To execute the plan, he is going to use his own son.

Greggy.

Six years after the declaration of Martial Law.
Five years after the signing of PD 293.

Three years of learning the ropes of the private lives of the members of the First Family.

Few minutes and Irene will turn eighteen.

Two more weeks before the plan sets in motion.

As Greggy gulps the last of his beers, he looks at the picture he's been holding since this morning.
