I pulled into our three story house. Its brick is a dark red with a black door and black shutters. Walking in alone was sadder than the funeral itself. I didn't have anything to do but play on my phone while sitting on the couch. After about ten minutes on wattpad, the doorbell rang. Knowing it was Coach Ashton, I opened without looking through the peephole. He stood there with a bouquet of iris all different shades and tints of purples. I smiled until I saw the man next to him. It was Mr. Frazier, my dad's lawyer. This isn't good.
"Mr. Frazier! What are you doing here." he looked down and lifted his head with pity.
"May we come in, Miss Evans?" I nodded and led them to the sitting room. I sat down in my dad's recliner and they sat on the couch.
"Do you want anything to drink? Are you hungry?" I say trying to be nice.
"Actually, can I have a pop?" Of course, He wanted to talk to Mr. Frazier, so he sends me to the top floor. I nod before leaving. Walking through the main kitchen and up the stairs I reach the second level. In order to get to the second set of stairs, you have to walk by my sisters' bedrooms. The first one was Lilli's. It has American girl dolls all lined up next to their beds and closets. She was crazy about them. She would spend hours playing with her favorite one, Samantha. And the times I would play with her, she would give me Rebecca because she thought I looked like the doll. She would help dad and grandpa out in the gardens to buy her precious dolls and their accessories. Her room was the color of the sky and had no closet but a big dresser.
She wasn't just the collector of the family but she was also the brainiac of the family. She was only four years old and she was already reading at a fifth grade level. She had a bigger vocabulary than me and my dad combined. That's saying something.
The next door was Eliza's. She was a model for advertisements and kids' magazines. She was gorgeous. She would spend at least an hour if not two hours getting ready for the day. She had 4 different make up boxes. Two for eye and lip make up and two for face makeup. She had every hair product and hair iron you can think of. She would clean my room if I paid her 10 dollars and she would proceed to work around the house to earn money to pay for her clothes. Some say she was spoiled but everything she had, she worked for herself. Her bedroom was a light pink and white.
At the end of the hall was the stair case. The wall across from the rooms was once filled with family pictures but dad took them down when they died. I finally reached the stairs and I sprinted up them.
The top level was where my room, the party room, the family room, and the gym. I spent half my life up here. When I had friends, I would have parties in the party room. When Eliza, Lilli, and I would want to watch a movie, we would watch in the family room. When I needed to get a skill for cheer or gymnastics, I would be in the gym. And let's not forget that my room was up here too. I walked quickly to the fridge and grabbed a coke and two waters. I turned and left but I used the elevator this time.
When I walked in the men were whispering. I cleared my throat before handing Coach Ashton his coke. I set the water in front of the crinkly faced lawyer. We were silent before coach spoke up.
"So, we want to talk to you about your family's wills." I nodded"We shall work from your grandparents will," Mr. Frazier, "each left you 6000 dollars so that totals up to 12000 dollars. Your grandmother also left you her art supplies." I nodded. I knew she would. She always said I had a better talent in art than she did.
"If you have any questions, kiddo, just ask." Coach whispered.
"I don't have any" and I didn't.
"Alright, now your step-"
"Mother, she's my mother." I interrupt
"Sorry, your mother left you her diamond earrings and her wedding ring," he looked up when handing me the bag of her favorite and most expensive pair of earrings and her ring. "Your father left you the money that is in his bank account which is around 45000 dollars, a necklace, and his wedding band." He again gave me a bag holding his necklace which was his most prized possession and his simple gold wedding ring.
