Day 2 (4/17/24)

Write a story from the perspective of an inanimate object (e.g., a chair, a book, a key).

In silent vigil, I mark the hours,
A steadfast companion, through all the powers,
My hands move smoothly, without a sound,
As memories unfold, like a tapestry unbound.

I recall the first touch, of a gentle hand,
That wound me tight, in a foreign land,
A soldier's keepsake, a token of love,
A heartbeat away, from the one above.

I ticked away, through battles loud,
And whispered secrets, in a lover's crowd,
I saw the birth, of a new life's start,
And counted moments, in a tender heart.

My face is worn, my gears are old,
But memories remain, like stories untold,
In every crease, a tale is stored,
Of laughter, tears, and moments adored.

As time goes on, my mechanism slows,
But memories remain, like a glowing rose,
I may stop working, but my heart remains,
A pocket watch, filled with love and pains.
