I wake up a few hours later in her bed, in only my boxers. I look over at her, bundled in the blankets and the light shining on her face beautifully. I smile brightly, and roll over on my side, reaching my left hand to her cheek.
I rest my hand on her cheek, my thumb rubbing back and forth over her freckled tan skin. We stay here for a few minutes before her eyes begin to flutter open. I smile at her, “Good morning Cara Mia.” I say softly she smiles before her smile falls. I look at her, my eyebrows pressing together, creating wrinkles in my forehead,
“What is it Lillie? Did I hurt you? Are you okay?” I say quickly, overthinking our night before. She shakes her head, “Gabe, its 9 am.. You have church, you snuck out, we didn’t use protection, we aren't married, we- oh gosh“ she says through some occasional stutters.
My face becomes white at all the possibilities, my fathers reaction to me sneaking out, being late to church, meeting a girl, having sex with the girl, maybe getting her pregnant, us not being married, oh my god.
I quickly get up and rush over to my clothes, not noticing Lillie beginning to cry. I slide my socks on, then my shirt and next my sweat pants. “Lillie I am so sorry we will fig-“ I stop my sentence as I turn around to her, tears in her eyes, looking at the floor defeated.
“Oh Caro mio…” I say as I walk over to her and pull her into a hug. “We will figure it out, I promise no matter what, we will figure it out, it will be okay.. but, for now.. I- I gotta go..” I say as I pull her off of my chest, giving her a quick kiss before slipping my shoes on, grabbing my phone and walking over to her window.
I stop for a moment then rush over to her. I pull her close and giver her a deep, but quick kiss. I look at her, tears streaming down her face. I frown at her and hesitantly pull away. I walk to her window hesitantly before opening it and sliding out. I close her window and jump down off of the roof.
