KAMYAH LARIE ARNOLD
SATURDAY  | 4:30 PM.
DECEMBER 23rd, 2023

KAMYAH SIGHED AS she grabbed her
suitcases out of her trunk. It was Christmas
break and she was surprising her family
after telling them she wouldn't be able to
make it — which they believed since she
didn't make it for thanksgiving break.

Hearing the disappointment in their voices
after she broke the news broke her heart, so
she decided to stay a little longer than she
had originally planned.

She hit the trunk release button, closing it
back and slowly made her way up the steps.
She took a deep breath before twisting the door, praying that it hadn't been locked.

"Thank God," she quietly praised as the
door lightly pushed open. Once she walked
in she heard muffled voices from the kitchen.

"Girl boo!" She heard a voice, that belonged
to nobody other than her sister — Kk arnold.
Kamyah held back her laughter as she crept
into the kitchen, preparing to scare everyone.

"Damn, I kind of miss Kamyah. Don't tell her
that though!" Kk continued speaking with
the rest of the family.

"I guess I miss you too," kamyah made her
presence known, causing everyone to jump.
"KAMYAH!" Kk shouted before running over
to her sister and hugging her tightly.

They were three years apart and went to
two different colleges, so they didn't see
each other often — except on breaks.

When Kk found out Kamyah wouldn't be spending break with them she cried, since
the only thing she looked forward to doing
on breaks was hanging out with her sister.

"My baby!" Their mother Kim, joined in
on the group hug, swaying their bodies
side to side. "I thought you weren't coming."

"I wanted to surprise you." Kamyah replied
and her mother playfully rolled her eyes.
"I can't believe I fell for it." She sighed before
walking back over to the stove.

As Kamyah and her family were enjoying
their heartfelt reunion in the kitchen, the sound of the front door opening caught their attention. In walked Kamyah's dad, Mike, with a big smile on his face, carrying bags
of groceries. Right beside him was a stunning 6 ft tall blonde woman. The room fell momentarily silent as everyone turned to
greet them.

"Hey, Dad!" Kamyah exclaimed, her eyes widening with excitement.

Mike chuckled and ran over to her, "Hey
princess! How's school been?" He asked,
pulling her into a heart warming hug.
