Words unspoken

I may only be a child
But I have my rights
The right to speak freely
Is one
I am supposed to
Have that right
But I don't
I have a voice
But no one
Chooses to hear it
I have amazing ideas
But no one wants to know them
I'm smart
But they call me stupid
I try to speak my mind
But they tell me to shut up
Why
I may only be a child
But I still have a voice
I still have a brain
I still have a dream
I still have an opinion
So why can't you just listen
All I want is for you to
Understand
I may be a child
But
I still want to be respected
I want you to listen
To what I have to say
Cause I might say something important
But I can't speak
Without someone willing to listen
I guess my words
Aren't important
So I might as well not say a word
I can't say anything anyway
