Under the cover of a starlit night, the camp was quieter than usual, the usual hum of nocturnal activity subdued as the soldiers of both armies rested before the upcoming skirmish. Lysander and Thalia found themselves away from the prying eyes and ears of their camps, seated by a secluded fire pit that Eris had subtly suggested for private discussions.

The night was cool, the crackling of the fire a comforting sound in the vast silence surrounding them. It was here, in this isolated setting, that they began to share more than just battle strategies.

Lysander broke the silence first, his voice low and reflective. "There's something I've never told anyone," he started, staring into the flames. "About my loyalty to the crown."

Thalia turned to him, her interest piqued, sensing the weight of his words. "We all have our secrets, Lysander. What's yours?"

He sighed, a long, weary sound. "My father was a close advisor to the king, a man deeply entwined with the politics of the court. He was a good man, or so I thought. When I was younger, I discovered he was part of a corruption network, taking bribes, manipulating court decisions. He was part of the rot we fight against."

Thalia listened intently, her previous views of Lysander shifting with each word. "What did you do?" she asked softly.

"I confronted him. It... it didn't go well. He disowned me, told me I was naïve and would understand when I was older. That's why I joined the military. Not out of loyalty to the crown, but to prove him wrong, to make a difference from the inside."

Thalia reached out, her hand brushing against his. "And have you?"

"I've tried," Lysander admitted, his gaze meeting hers. "But sometimes, I wonder if I'm just as blind as he said I was."

It was Thalia's turn to share, encouraged by Lysander's openness. "My mother was killed by the king’s guard," she revealed, her voice barely above a whisper. "It was during a protest. She was speaking out against the king’s policies. They said it was an accident, that she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I never believed them."

Lysander's expression hardened, his sympathy evident. "Thalia, I’m..."

"Don't," she interrupted, her voice firm yet fragile. "I don’t need sympathy. I need change. That’s why I fight."

Their shared confessions brought them closer, a bond formed not just of mutual goals but of deeply personal grievances against the system they were still a part of. It was a poignant moment, one that might have ended there, but Eris had one more secret to reveal that night.

Eris approached them, their expression serious. "There’s more at stake here than just our battles," they began, sitting down beside them. "Korvax isn’t just a warlord risen from chaos. He’s backed by those within your own ranks, Lysander, and by external forces who see profit in our continued strife."

Lysander stiffened, his strategic mind racing. "Who? Who is backing him?"

Eris paused, the weight of the information they held clear. "Some are those you've trusted, allies in your council. And some... some are from across the seas, looking to expand their territories into Eldoria."

The revelation shook Lysander to his core, while Thalia processed the implications with a grim understanding. "So, our war is a puppet show, and we’re the marionettes?" she asked bitterly.

"Not if we can help it," Eris responded. "We have a chance to cut the strings, to reveal the puppeteers and claim true autonomy for Eldoria."

"How?" Lysander asked, his voice a blend of anger and determination.

"By exposing them, by uniting not just our armies but our people. By showing them the truth of who leads them and who betrays them," Eris explained.

The fire crackled between them, a silent witness to their resolve. That night, under the stars, the three leaders made a pact not just to fight together but to unveil the truths buried deep within their lands. Secrets had been revealed, and with them, the path forward had become clearer, lit by the flames of revelation and the shared fire of their newfound unity.
