Makoto awoke in a blank white void, disoriented and confused. As he wondered where he was, a voice echoed in the empty space, drawing his attention. He looked up to see a bright light orb hovering before him, its gentle glow illuminating the void."Who are you? Where am I?" Makoto asked, his voice trembling with uncertainty.
"I apologize for the confusion," the orb responded with a soothing tone. "This is not how we intended to meet."
Before Makoto could respond, a hand reached out and struck the orb, commanding it to transform into its normal form and cease its antics.
Makoto turned to see a young, beautiful girl standing beside him, her expression filled with concern. She and the orb, who had obediently transformed into a young man, both wore shimmering white robes that radiated a soft, white aura, making them look ethereal in the stark void. They bowed their heads in apology to Makoto, explaining that it was their fault he was dead.
"Dead? How did this happen?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, a mix of fear and disbelief clouding his expression.
The two gods explained that they had wanted to visit Earth to check up on their world and ensure there was no disturbance. However, when they attempted to visit, they accidentally teleported right onto Makoto, and he absorbed their mana, resulting in his death.
"How did I absorb your mana?" Makoto asked, his confusion deepening.
"We were dealing with an unstable dimensional rift. During our attempt to stabilize it, we had to use a significant amount of our mana. Unexpectedly, instead of dispersing safely, our mana was absorbed by you," the male god responded.
"And what are the rifts?" Makoto inquired, trying to grasp the scope of their responsibilities.
"The rifts we monitor can cause mana to leak into Earth, leading to potential disasters," the male god explained, his voice grave. "We came to inspect such a rift, expecting to manage it as usual."
"Have you ever failed to fix these rift on time?" Makoto asked, his curiosity tinged with a hint of dread.
"Yes, there have been times we didn't make it in time, usually just by a hair. The worst event caused by such a leak was the extinction of the dinosaurs," the female god said gently, noting Makoto's shocked expression.
"Wait, so that's what happened to them? So, it can be that bad?" Makoto exclaimed, his eyes wide with newfound understanding and horror.
"Yes, but there have been other times, like giving people powers or even imbuing certain items with power," the male god added. "But you are the first one to ever absorb our power directly, which was too much for any human to handle."
"So, I'm really dead then," Makoto murmured, his voice tinged with sadness, absorbing the gravity of his unique fate.
"Yes, and we are sorry again," they said in unison, their heads bowed in solemnity.
The male god spoke up, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the despair. "We have decided to reincarnate you into another world, one filled with magic and adventure. We are just waiting for the two gods of that world to arrive. In the meantime, do you have any questions?"
"What will this world be like? Will I be able to adapt to its customs and challenges?" Makoto asked, his mind racing with thoughts of the unknown.
"Do not worry, Makoto. We have chosen a world that will suit you well. You will find allies and companions who will aid you on your journey," the female god reassured him with a warm smile, her aura shimmering slightly as she spoke.
As Makoto stood in the void, pondering the words of the two gods, a rift appeared before him, shimmering with otherworldly energy. From within the rift emerged a single god, his presence exuding power and wisdom. He appeared much older than the first two, his robes similarly white but bearing ancient symbols, his aura denser, almost tangible.
"Greetings, Makoto," the god spoke, his voice resonating with authority. "I am the envoy from the world where you will be reborn. I bring tidings of both opportunity and peril."
Makoto regarded the god with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension, unsure of what to expect.
"I have been tasked with bestowing upon you the blessings of our realm," the god continued. "In addition to the mana you have absorbed from the two gods, I shall grant you several abilities to aid you on your journey."
With a wave of his hand, the god imbued Makoto with the ability to understand all languages, both spoken and written. Makoto felt a surge of knowledge coursing through him, expanding his understanding of the world.
"As an aid to your adventures, I grant you a five times experience booster," the god declared. "With this gift, you shall grow stronger and more capable with each challenge you face."
"There is much you must learn about the world into which you will be reborn," the god said gravely. "Half of the population possesses the ability to wield magic, and among them, many aspire to become mages of great renown."
The god paused, his expression growing solemn. "But beware, Makoto, for not all is as it seems. Monsters and adventures are ranked by a scale of danger and difficulty, ranging from F rank to SS rank. And lurking in the shadows, a darkness stirs, threatening to engulf the world in chaos."
Makoto's mind raced with questions, but before he could voice them, the god spoke once more.
"And one final revelation," the god said, his voice tinged with sorrow. "You shall be reborn as a baby in this world, with your memories of your past life intact. Your parents and your destiny shall remain shrouded in mystery, awaiting the unfolding of your fate."
With those words, the god prepared to send Makoto to be reborn into the new world.
