Warmth Of A Flock

Vaggie was sitting in bed working her way through her pin feathers and making way for the fathers to fully grow. It was strange to be preening again after so long. It wasn't what she was expecting at all. It was familiar and she was able to fall into a rhythm she thought she had long forgotten.

One thing she did forget was how uncomfortable the pine feathers could be and how she needed help to reach the ones closer to her back. Before the other exorcist girls would help preen her wings.

But now she has someone even better "Charlie, I need your help with something"

Charlie who was sitting next to her on the bed reading a book closes the book "Yes, Vaggie"

"I need you to get the pin feathers near the back of my wings."

"Okay, then what do I do?"

Vaggie turns her wing to her where a few pin feathers are "Okay so you pinch and just twist them between your fingers. They are meant to be a bit chalky when you break them." Vaggie explains while demonstrating on some of the pin needles near her.

Charlie moves closer when Vaggie turns her back showing a lot of pin feathers on the back of her wings. Charlie starts to gently break the pin needles one by one freeing the feathers.

Veggie soaks up the touch of her girlfriend and how gentle she is being. She melts a bit into Charlie's touch.

Charlie took her time not wanting to hurt Vaggie.

The feathers that weren't as neat or needed to be arranged better or the old feathers that were too damaged to work, Vaggie started pulling them out and rearranging them in a better way.

After Charlie freed the last pin feathers Vaggie started guiding her through the rearranging process with her feathers. Charlie was tender with her movements as she followed her girlfriend's words.

"Thank you for helping me"

"I will always help you no matter what" Charlie smiles softly

Vaggie returns the smile as her eyes meet Charlie's own eyes briefly.

This was home.
