Dear Mom,
I know I haven't written to you in awhile! I apologize sincerely, you see, Mr. Summers has been keeping me busy with chores and housework recently because it's my break in between classes! I hope you're doing alright wherever you are!
Here's an update on Evan by the way, He's doing good! You know I never thought that he would actually go for the whole rock singer career but he did! It's kinda funny to be honest! He used to be quite the jock in highschool!!
Mrs. Summers planted a garden since I last wrote to you, she's growing fruits, vegetables and flowers. I promise we're not on a homestead! Mrs summers has been treating me really nicely since I moved in. Since the beginning of the year ive been helping her garden in my free time! Yknow, when I haven't been neck deep in things I need to study.
Oh! Good news! I got accepted into Med School in Virginia! I fear telling Mr and Mrs Summers will break them. I mean after Evan left home I'm their last cling to a somewhat child. But I know they'll be proud of me! Anyway, I'm going to med school and I'm gonna study psychology on the side. Luckily, mr. Summers is willing to help pay for my schooling so I won't be too fucked over leaving this home.
Regardless, I hope you're as excited for me as I am! Oh and by the way! I left you a present the last time I had visited! I hope you enjoyed it, I'm gonna stop by and bring you a present in a few weeks! Once I get settled down. I'm sorry I can't make it to you on your birthday but there's way to much going on at this moment but I will make it up to you momma! Anyway! I love you momma and I hope you're happy!
Sincerely,
A.S

He kept getting these letters every year on the same day. All addressed to "mom". He could figure out by the heart dotted I's and the way they wrote that they are a she. He placed the pink paper on his stone counter as he took off his sweater vest and brushed his brown hair out of his face. Placing his suitcase on the counter before walking to the fridge and grabbing out some milk. He opened the cabinet and grabbed a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. He absent-mindly poured himself a bowl of the cereal and he poured in milk afterwards. He grabbed a spoon from the drawer with tender hands and he scooped up some of the cereal into his mouth. He chewed the cereal until it became mush in his mouth before he swallowed. His brown eyes glanced towards the pink paper again. Knowing that there's a mother out there not receiving birthday letters from her daughter hurts him, however, it does not make much sense in the long run. If she visits her mother, then does her mother not ask why they haven't talked.
Spencer doesn't let the thought plague his mind much longer as he rather pushes the thoughts away. He instead focuses on the fact that he should finish his cereal and get ready for bed, as he hasn't had a break for the past week because he had cases back to back. Once the cereal is finished his puts the bowl in his sink so he can clean it later. With heavy and tired steps he walks towards the bathroom and grabs his toothbrush before soaking it in cold water under the faucet. He applies toothpaste to the bristles before he places the brush in his mouth. The bristles brush against his teeth in a circular motion. When he finishes brushing his teeth he spits out the toothpaste into the sink. After washing the brush he placed his brush into the holder.
Pushing back his brown hair again, he walks into his bedroom and falls onto the bed. He feels weird knowing he has some girls letters. He knows he should write to her so he could tell her that she's sending the letters to the wrong address, however, he feels like he's grown attached to the pretty pink letters and the heart dotted I's. Even though it's not addressed to him, it makes him feel wanted. He feels like he's experiencing whatever this girls experiencing. As wrong as it sounds, he selfishly gets up and takes the letter and hides it in his dresser. With a soft sigh he sits back down on his bed and crawls under his comforter. With a soft noise he sinks into the cozy mattress and falls asleep.
~~
When he woke up his eyes felt heavy. His arms were splayed out and his body laid in a starfish position. With a groan, he opened his eyes and slowly sat up. Then he heard his phone buzz. Grabbing it with a slow pace. He peaked his eye open and read the name Penelope Garcia. With a groan he stood up, his feet coming in contact with the plush carpet beneath his toes. He runs his hand through his brown hair as he walked towards his kitchen before grabbing a snack. He then grabs a brown sweater that was on his couch and threw it over his white undershirt. He slides his feet into his dress shoes, grabs a bag and then heads out of his apartment. Once he arrived at the BAU, he swipes his card and enters the building. Standing in the elevator as it goes up then the doors opened and he walked to the meeting room. Once he arrived in he saw everyone sitting at the table.
"Sorry, I didn't get the message" he explained and his coworker Derek snickered.
"Sure pretty boy, did you have a late night?" Spencer rolled his eyes as he sat down. Penelope cleared her throat before going over the case they were put on.
"Two teen girls went missing in Springfield, Kansas last night. Both have blond hair and blue eyes." She clicks a button on her remote. "Lena Vincent, an A+ student who was a cheerleader and Mary Clines, a band child with average grades."
"They were abducted from their homes last night at 10pm, signs of forced entry on the windows." She explained.
"Alright, we don't have much time then, wheels up in 30" Hotch spoke as he stood up and walked away.
~~~
When they all arrived Hotch told Rossi and Prentis to go to the family of Lena, JJ to go with him to the family of Mary and Spencer and Derek to the police station so they can look through all the evidence and start making a profile and plan. Derek and him stood in the meeting room that was set up for them. There were 2 boxes on the table and they started thinking.
"What's with that face pretty boy, are you figuring out something?" Morgan looked towards him and he looked towards Morgan.
"The unsub kept the abduction quiet. Which is abnormal for a first time unsub meaning he's done something like this before." He spoke as he scrambled for his phone. Once it was in his hand he dialed Penelope's number and called.
"It's your goddess of all knowledge here, how may I assist" she announced in her typical cheery voice.
"Garcia, look in the past few years for an abduction case in Springfield that involved 2 girls both with blond hair and blue eyes" the sound of Garcia typing came through the phone.
"I don't see anything..." she spoke and he looked at his hand.
"Okay then check the surrounding area of Springfield for an abduction case similar to this one" as he spoke Derek's phone started to ring.
"Uhh, there's 2 cases, one of them involved 2 girls with blond hair and blue eyes. Both went missing at the same time Omaha, Nebraska." Then there was more typing on the other end of the call. "Then there's another case but in Tulsa, Oklahoma where 2 blond hair blue eyed teens went missing"
"Garcia do any of the cases involve missing family photos?" Derek asked as he got off the phone with whoever called.
"Yes! The two teen girls in Omaha, Nebraska both had a missing family portrait in their reports!" Gracie announced cheerily.
"Can you send us those files baby girl?" Derek said in his typical smooth voice which made Spencer roll his eyes.
"Of course I can chocolate thunder, they've been sent to you tablets!" Garcia giggled.
"Thank you baby girl" he smiled and chuckled as Spencer ended the call. "What's with the eye roll pretty boy"
"Don't even" Spencer laughed slightly before looking over the files. Both of the cases were a missing persons report however, the Nebraska case ended when the bodies of Tina Stuart and Lindsey Mchammon were found dead, their bodies discovered in the lake.
Tina Stuart had bruises on her waist and hips with signs of sexual assault. Her hair was cut short and her clothes were changed from her abduction clothes. Lindsey Mchammon was found with burns and cuts on her body, however no sign of sexual assault. Her body was found a few days earlier than Tina. The lack of sexual assault makes Spencer think.
"Why would he assault one girl but not the other?" Spencer thought out loud. He looked through the files not paying attention to the time. Then he heard the others return to the police station.
"Reid I heard you could link this case with another?" Hotch asked as he walked into the meeting room.
"Yeah!" Spencer stood up pointed towards a white board that had the names and photos of all the victims. "Tina Stuart and Lindsey Mchammon were both abducted from Ohama, Oklahoma 1 year ago during this same week that the two girls Lena Vincent and Mary Clines. Plus both abductions were at home and the girls were taken from their bedroom in the same night. Both also having a missing family portrait." Spencer explained what he found and Hotch nodded.
"And that's not it! Tina Stuart's body showed many signs of sexual assault and she had bruising on her hips and waist and her hair was cut aswell" Reid stated. "While, Lindsey Mchammom had burns, gashes and Bruises on her body. Similar to torture."
"Those are two completely different MO's?" Hotch looked confused as he stared at Reid.
"Yeah, which makes me think we're dealing with not one, but two unsubs. I think one of the unsubs is a sexual Sadist and the other is a hebephile. But how their dynamic is, is what's got me stumped" Hotch Nodded slightly.
"Alright, good job Reid, go work on a geographic profile we'll think about it" Reid nodded before heading over to the opposite side of the room and grabbing out a map. He marked down where Tina and Lindsey were abducted and where their bodies were discovered. Tina and Lindsey's body were both discovered in Oakwood lake. Which created a pattern showing that the unsubs were probably located inside the triangle. Now he marked Lena and Mary down to see if he could find any similarities, like a lake at the peak of the triangle. He did find a lake, he actually found two lakes. But either way that gave him a logical reason to assume the unsubs are located in the center.
~~
It was intense for them. They had entered into an abandoned warehouse where they knew the unsubs were. Spencer was afraid and definitely feeling the adrenaline. He had his gun in his hand as he and Prentis entered through the back. They crept through the halls and slowly opened doors while they investigated. Prentis opened a door then waved Reid over. Reid hurried into the room Prentis was and saw Lena Vincent. Prentis quickly untied her and took off the cloth around her mouth.
"You have to be quiet" prentis spoke to Lena in a soft and gentle voice. Reid nodded towards prentis as she wrapped her arm around Lena and led her out of the building. Now Reid was alone... he felt the anxiety creep in his mind, however, he needed to focus. He put his gun in front of himself again as he treads through the hallway. His feet moving softly and quietly. He opened doors quietly as he checked out all the rooms he could. Then he turned a corner and gasped as his coworker Derek scared the shit out of him. With a soft smile Reid walked with Derek now through the halls when they heard a loud crash to their right. They head the way to the sound before opening a door. Once the door opens a loud bang was heard and echoed throughout the warehouse. Then everything went black.
~~
Spencer woke up to the sound of beeping, his eyes were heavy and as he opened them his eyes burned from the bright light.
"Good morning pretty boy" Derek said with a smirk.
"What happened Morgan?" Spencer asked as he tried to sit up however, he felt an extreme pain in his lower abdomen.
"When you opened that door the unsub was on the other side and shot you in the gut. Luckily it wasn't a lethal shot." Derek smiled as he ate jello.
"Oh wonderful" Spencer looked at the ceiling with a frown. Not only will he not be able to fly back but he'll also not be home to see if he receives another letter. One of the things he hopes for nowadays.
"What's wrong Reid, what's on your mind?" Derek asked with a face of concern.
"Nothing" Spencer spoke without moving his eyes from the ceiling.
"I'm a profiler Reid, I can tell you're lying to me. You don't have to—" Derek started before Reid cut him off.
"I've been receiving letters recently. All addressed to a girl's mom, however they were sent to me. At first I thought it was a prank but then they kept coming every year. And now I don't know if I should write a letter back explaining that she's sending the letters to the wrong address or if I just keep it to myself" Spencer explained as he looked towards Derek.
"That's a tough question, I'd write back and let her know she's been sending the letters to you. She might be understanding if you explain how you thought it was a joke or a scam for awhile until you realized it wasn't" Derek explained. "Do you even know how old she is?"
"Her 21st birthday was a few weeks ago I think" Spencer remembers the letter about how she celebrated by getting drunk and wasted which made him snicker. Derek noticed.
"Oooh, does Reid have a crush on the mystery girl?" Derek teased and Reid felt his face get warm. He rolled his eyes before crossing his arms. "I'm kidding, but you should write back and explain the situation to her."
"Alright... I'll keep that in mind" Spencer relaxed again into the hospital bed and felt himself doze off again. Might as well sleep while he heals.
