my first love

James had always known that he was different. Growing up, he felt an attraction towards both boys and girls, but never really understood it. It wasn't until he met Kevin in grade 7, that he finally understood his feelings.

Kevin was a new transfer student and James was immediately drawn to him. He had dark hair, piercing blue eyes and a charming smile. Over the years, as they became classmates and friends, James couldn't help but develop strong feelings for Kevin. He found himself daydreaming about holding Kevin's hand, kissing him and being with him forever.

But deep down, James knew that his feelings for Kevin would never be reciprocated. Kevin was straight and seemed to have a new girlfriend every other month. So, James kept his feelings to himself and pretended to be happy for Kevin whenever he talked about his latest crush.

Things took an unexpected turn in grade 9. During a class project, James and Kevin were paired together and had to spend a lot of time together. As they worked on their project, they started to develop a deeper connection. Kevin opened up to James about his love life and confided in him about his fears and insecurities. James was there to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on.

One day, after a long day of working on their project, Kevin turned to James and said, 'You know, you're not like other guys. You're different, and I like that about you.'

James was shocked and didn't know how to respond. He didn't want to believe that Kevin was actually interested in him. But before he could even say anything, Kevin leaned in and kissed him. It was a soft, tentative kiss but it was enough to make James feel like he was on cloud nine.

With a smile on his face, Kevin whispered, 'I've always wanted to do that.'

They would spend all their free time together, going on dates, watching movies, and just being in each other's company. They were the envy of their classmates, and everyone could see how much they loved each other.

As their high school years came to an end, Kevin and James started getting anxious about their future. They both had a passion for different courses and didn't know how that would affect their relationship. James wanted to study engineering while Kevin wanted to become an architect.

But they refused to let their dreams come between their love. They made a promise to support each other no matter what and decided to apply to colleges in the same city, hoping they would both get accepted.

Their persistence and determination paid off as they both got accepted into their desired courses in a prestigious college in the city. James was elated to know that he would still be able to be with Kevin every day. They moved into a small apartment together and started living their dream.

As they attended classes, studied, and worked towards their goals, their love only grew stronger. They were each other's biggest supporters and confidants. They both graduated with top honors and landed great jobs in their respective fields.

Their relationship was going strong, and they had already been together for 5 years. But as they say, all good things must come to an end. James and Kevin's parents found out about their relationship, and they were not happy about it. They were traditional and conservative and couldn't accept that their sons were in love with each other.

Sadly, James and Kevin were forced to break up, and they went their separate ways. It was a difficult decision, but they didn't want to cause any more problems for their families. They continued to live in the same city, but they rarely saw each other, and it felt like a piece of their heart was missing.

Years went by, and James and Kevin both became successful in their careers. They were content with their lives, but there was always a void that couldn't be filled. They both missed each other and often wondered 'what if'. But they never reached out, thinking it was for the best.
