Take a Hop!

Running late blows.. Something common in most cases, but generally considered impossible due to just how small of a place Crossroads are. What can you say- you truly are one of a kind. To achieve the unachievable, huh?

It was pouring, and you were running with a soaked jacket over your head. The umbrella bended under the wind just as you exited to the front porch mere minutes ago- which thank deities, didn't earn you any weird looks or subtle laughs. The streets were barren and empty, a nice contrast to the usual fast paced atmosphere they held. After all, no one else is enough of a cretin to actually step outside when a wannabe hurricane is there biting people in their rear.

Regret wasn't the only thing washing over you, certainly. You ran through the storm, avoiding puddles to the best of your ability. The usual hum of Crossroads many famous electronics was overridden by tapping of water, and an occasional crack of thunder. All of them were down, most likely the culprit being the lightning bolts that would flash every so often. Made you kind of worried because there was a ginormous metal tower stretching out into the clouds and beyond, but hey! What do you know?

You turned the corner, cringing at how your wet clothes stuck to you. Odd and uncomfortable, like wearing wet socks- which, might you add, you were being condoned the un-pleasure of. But as you ran, you realized that you were just a short distance of your destination.

There it was, the cat cafe! ( population : half a cat ) Just a ten second sprint from your current location! And as you realized that- you put the pedal to the metal, and ran like you would for a million.

You pushed the doors open, hearing the bell softly jingle. On the frame you stood completely drenched, with an award losing smile to top it off.

First thing you notice : devoid of customers. Second was a surprised looking Slingshot in the building.

A few moments pass between him and you just sharing a prolonged stare, as you watch his gaze slowly melt into worry.

"Can I come in?" you ask, minding your clothes which took a bath and a half, still holding the door open with one hand. You wouldn't want to ruin the floor, would you?

He stares at you, dumbfounded.

"No, stand in the rain-" he cut himself off, seeing that you were unmoving- actually listening to him "Gosh of course you can, come in, in!"

Slingshot ushered you, closing the door behind you with haste as he turned and ran off to snatch a rug from the storage room. You still can't come to terms with how fast he moves.

"So, did I make it in on time?" You pipque, listening to how boxes tumbled over each other in the other room. There haven't been any customers so far from what you can tell, so perhaps you just unknowingly messed up the time and came earlier.

You hear an even more confused sound echoing from behind the doors.

"What do you mean, 'did I make it on time', I don't remember we,.. we-" Slingshot trailed off, his voice muffling behind the half-shut doors.

You heard him speak, but it was unintelligible.

"Sling, I can't hear you!!" You shout, as he loudly replies.

"..is this about yesterday?!"

Yeah, it was.

Yesterday, the five of you- Vinestaff, Shuriken, You, and Sling decided to play the fabled and well known game of 'spin the bottle'. Shuriken's idea, as per natural- which you took him up gladly on. After all, you were a friend- you had the ultimate pass to be a guest to their game nights! The more, the merrier.
