Back at The Academy

"Rei, what are you doing?" She said while looking from behind the young boy shoulder.

"Killing ants" he said nonchalantly. Tap the ant with his fingers, make it dead.

"Why do you like it?"

"Like what?"

"Doing that"

"Well.... i dont know. No one asked me that before. They are afraid of me. You're not?" He asked. Now turned back to face the girl.

"Eh? Should I?" Asked the girl, cocking her head. The boy just got more confused by her action. The girl suddenly smiled.

"I'm not afraid of you, Rei-chan. If you like doing that, then just do it. At least you're happy doing it right?" She said that and walked away from the boy, left him more confused with what to do now. She just made the fun gone apparently.

"Yeah well. Thats Amaya-chan for you" he just shrugged and try to find another thing to play.

Days after that day. Everything was always seems the same to Amaya. Everyone gossiping about each other. Well yeah.. that's what will you do if you're a 13 years old teenager.

When she came pass by, the talked was getting more serious.

"She's weird you know. She rarely talk"

"Is she really can talk?"

"Yeahh. Ive heard her voice. Its cute you know"

"Hee? Really? But isnt it just weird?"

"Ive seen her talk with Rei"

"Hee? That's psychotic children? Then of course she must be weird too."

Talk whatever you want guys. Really when youre still given the freedom to talk.
She thought in her own mind. She never cared about it anyway. But sometimes it became very annoying at some point and she really wanted to cut their head. Maybe I should be the one they called psychotic, not Rei. She tought again.

She walked to the canteen, buy her favorite strawberry bun and walked out looking for a peaceful place without anyone. She walked to the hill at the back of the CCG academy. Once she found the place she wanted, she sit there, starting eat the bread.

Not long after that, a nut fall hit her scalp and she looked up. Only to find Rei was trying to annoy a bird with a stick.

"Rei-chaaan!"

He startled a little but find his balance almost an instant. He looked down and find a girl eating a strawberry bun. She tought Rei must be hungry too.

"Do you want some?"

Without thinking another second, he jumped from the brances and landed gracefully. Then he sit beside her. Amaya cut her bread into two and gave the half to Rei. They ate in silence for a few minutes.

"I thought anyone wont talk to me again" Rei suddenly spoke.

"Huh? Why is that?"

"You havent heard it yet? They said I killed cat. A lot of cats." he said with his big eyes looking at her.

"They said? Then you didnt do it right?" Her eyes calm. Rei didn't know what to say. Her word always made him lost for words.

"They avoid me too" she said while continue eating her bun.

"What?" He didnt understand. "Why would they?"

She just shrugged her shoulder. Then smiled while staring into blank space. He tried to find what she's looking at but there was nothing.

"Is it weird if I dont hate ghouls?"

"No"

"Eh? No?" She suprised at his answer. Everyone at the academy said they should hate them. The other kids seems to hate them too. Some even really despise them from their heart.

"Is that why everyone avoid you, Amaya-chan?" She looked up and saw Rei face darker. For some reason she didn't understand, there was a slight of anger in his eyes.

"No, I think" looking into red orbs of Rei.
"Im just asking. Everyone seems to hate them and I just cant picture my self to hate them"

"They gave me a freedom technically. How could I hate them?" She smiled at the tought. She never shared her personal feeling with anyone. And this is actually.... felt nice.

"Then you shouldn't force your self to do so. You must be happy with what your doing right?"

She looked mesmerized at his words and suddenly laugh. "You're really right, Rei-chan. Thank youu!". She beamed.

When she laughed, it was the best scenery he's ever seen in his life. The falling leaves from the tree swung gracefully beside her. Her face bright. It was really beautiful. He will never forget about her.
