Hi all,
Hey! It's been a minute since most of you have heard from me! I'm very much alive and not done with writing. I know it's likely that most of you are awaiting a new chapter of Stranded in Petalburg, but IRL matters and a strong case of writer's block have prevented me from updating. This story has been in my drafts for awhile, and all it really needed was a proofread before it could be published, so I thought it'd be nice if I posted something at the least.
Thank you to the multiple people who've gone out of their way to message me and ask how I'm doing and if I plan to keep writing. I really do appreciate it. For the record, I do plan to finish Stranded in Petalburg, and a new chapter will come once I'm less constricted on time and energy. Thank you to everyone who has left reviews as well, I always read them!
I thought this story was quite short and sweet. It was written in a setting I've always enjoyed, and I had a strong inspiration for writing it, though I'd be surprised if anybody could guess it. I hope whoever is here to read it enjoys.
Thanks for reading,
Enjoy.
How Has Your Day Been?
The sun had long dipped below the horizon, being replaced by the vibrant pulse of the city that grew stronger with each passing minute, casting a warm glow over the bustling streets filled with activity. The energy only seemed to grow as the day transitioned further into the night, the activity of the urban landscape showing no sign of waning.
In the heart of the city and through the collections of conversations and dancing, laughter, music, and the steady hum of discussion culminated into a symphony of sounds. Warm street lights illuminated the pavement and painted the skyline with a kaleidoscope of orange and yellow, reflecting off of the skyscrapers that stood firmly in the heart of downtown. The occasional blare of car horns were all but drowned out by the rhythmic beat of distant music.
Sidewalk cafes spilled out onto the pavement, tables adorned with flickering candles and colorful decorations with it. There was no shortage for pockets of warmth and intimacy amidst what some would describe as urban chaos. The air is heavy with the scent of cuisine and open-air restaurants, enticing passersby with promises of culinary delights.
As the night was still young, the temperature remained comfortably warm, accompanied by a gentle breeze that carried the scent of summer along with sea salt from the nearby beach. Couples stroll hand in hand along the boardwalk, silhouetted against the shimmering lights of passing boats.
Above it all, and a gentle reminder of the vast world, the stars twinkled in the clear night sky, their light softened by the glow of the city below. Time seemed to stand still in this moment, and the possibilities stretched out like an endless invitation for adventure.
One particular building stood amidst the warm night. A firm skyscraper known for its ornate and decorative design, a nod to older architectural styles that exemplified a different age, but still standing throughout the test of time. It stood iconically, overseeing the collections of people below, as if it could never be moved. Of the sixty floors contained by the building, one particular one sat humbly.
On floor number thirty-two, a humble and warm lounge sat in a large corner room of the skyscraper, outfitted with a bar and plenty of seating to overlook the activities of the city below. An iconic establishment that originated long ago and persisted through the development of the city. Going by the name, The Midnight Mirage, it was a humble business that many assumed would last for as long as the city would. It was characterized by the bar that wrapped around the inner-walls of the room, facing the different areas of seating that sat in front of the windows. The warm city light flowing in through the windows provided just enough light so as to not affect the aura created by the warm, dim lighting of the room.
