Author's pov:
Awkward silence was prevailing the two strangers in the empty hall room . They were not sure what to talk about now. Zoya looked here and there to avoid dev and his staring time to time . She was continuously looking at the door and waiting for her friends who went invisible from last half an hour .
Where are they ?? Did earth swallow them? Kahi yeh log khud he khana banane toh nhi beth gaye???
"Ahem" dev cleared his throat and she looked at him and raised her eyebrows. "I-I need to ask you something. May I?" Zoya looked at him being shocked .
Why is he asking me so politely and gently?
"Yeah sure"
Dev was hesitating a bit but he somehow gather his confidence and asked her about their night conversation which they did on phone . "Last night I messaged you........" dev slowly looked at her and saw her expression changed .
"Umm so I Um I-I" dev closed his eyes and said "I want to apologise, I am sorry for my behaviour" he said and opened his eyes to look at Zoya .
Zoya heard him and suppressed her smile and looked at him quietly. She looked away when dev opened his eyes to look at her .
He is looking so cute while apologising..
Zoya thought and internally giggled. "I'm sorry Zoya" she thinned her lips and looked at him who was looking at her with pleading eyes and innocent face .
She bite her inner cheeks to control her laugh and nodded her head . "Did you forgive me?? Is it a forgiving sign?" Dev asked being clueless.
She again nodded her head but soon bursted out in laughter when she saw his confused face which was looking so adorable.
"Ha ha ha you-ha ha you are looking so cute" she said amidst her laughter . Dev looked at her being astonished. "You are laughing at me?" Dev sounded a little bit shocked and offended.
Zoya's laughter stopped when she heard his voice . "No I-I just you were looking so cute while apologising that I can't control my laughter . I'm sorry if you felt offended" Zoya looked at him who was looking sad .
She looked down but soon heard his laughter and looked up at him who was laughing. She felt mesmerised after seeing him laugh . His hairs falling on his forehead , his eyes becoming so small while he is laughing , so adorable and that small dimple on his cheek is adding more beauty to his handsome facial features.
He looking so beautiful!! Why doesn't he laugh often ? His laughter is sounding so sweet!!
Dev snapped infront of her eyes "Where are you lost?" Zoya snapped out and looked at him who was looking at her with a small smile .
She glared at him when she realised that she has been tricked by him "You tricked me?" Dev leaned on the stage and kept his hand on the stage , he kept his chin on his hand and nodded his head with a small smile . Zoya glared at him . "Okay!! I'm sorry jokes apart , Am I forgiven?" Dev asked sincerely.
Zoya thought for a while . Though it was wrong of him to secretly kept the gift in her bag like that but it was sweet of him to gift her choices of bangles . She looked at him and asked "From where did you got my number?" She narrowed her eyes at him .
Dev stiffened at her question but replied to her without a hint of nervousness "I got it from Sakshi's phone" he lied to her very smoothly.
"Sakshi gave it to you?" Zoya asked and he nodded his head . Zoya hummed. "So am I forgiven?" Now he asked being desperate.
Zoya sighed and nodded her head . She was never truly angry with him she was just a bit upset that he didn't asked her permission and sneaked those bangles in her bag .
As if you were going to accept it if he gave it to you being face to face - her mind mocked .
Shut up - she shouted at her subconscious.
"Okay I forgive you but please never do that again . I got scared because of that" Zoya looked at dev "I Promise that I'll never do such thing which will disappoint you or will make you angry" Zoya looked in his eyes and saw honesty.Which made her smile and her heart filled with warmness.
"I hope you didn't blocked me" dev joked and Zoya chuckled and shook her head in 'no'.
"We are here" just when their conversation was flowing smoothly and both got comfortable with each other they heard Sakshi's voice .
Zoya looked at Sakshi and Mallika and waved her hand . Dev looked at her sister and sighed disappointedly. "Don't you think you have the worst timing ever??" Dev asked with a sarcastic smile .
Sakshi being dumbfounded looked at her brother's sarcastic smile . "Why? What did I do?" Sakshi asked and placed the food on the stage .
Dev groaned and rolled his eyes "Nothing" he said and looked away . "Weird creature huh" Sakshi made disgusting face and concentrated on the food . "So how was your practice Zoya ?" Mallika asked . "I hope my brother didn't troubled you much" Sakshi said and looked at her brother who gave her a pointed look.
"It was good and I learnt the speech and I said without stammering anywhere with full confidence and no your brother didn't troubled me , he helped me a lot" Zoya said and at last looked at dev who gave her a small smile .
"That's good to hear" Mallika said and sakshi started opening the food containers . She distributed it to everyone but dev refused it . "No thanks" he said .
"Why ? What happened?" Sakshi asked "You guys eat I have to leave , I have a urgent work to do" he said . Sakshi shrugged and continued eating . "Okay then bye" she bid her bye . "Bye sir" mallika addressed him as 'sir' because she was not sure about what to call him?
Before dev could correct her , sakshi laughed out loud "Sir??? Him??? Ha ha ha" she laughed and pointed her finger at him . Dev sighed and looked at Mallika with a gentle smile and said "No need to call me sir , you can call me bhai as Sakshi does" he replied politely.
Mallika nodded her head being embarrassed. Dev gave a light hit on Sakshi's head who was laughing uncontrollably. "Ouch! BHAI!!"
"Shut up! And after completing your practice quickly come back home before evening ok?" Sakshi pouted and muttered "Okay" dev smiled and started to move out but before that he looked at Zoya and Zoya also looked at him .
They had a few seconds of eye contact before Zoya broke it with a blushing face . She looked down and dev chuckled.
He started to move out of the hall . He reached near the door and stopped before going out . He looked behind at Zoya . He saw her smiling and laughing with his sister and her friend . He smiled seeing her laughing . Unknowingly he felt peace in his heart when he saw her smiling and laughing. With a final look and printing her happy face in his heart and mind he went out .
