Dr. Maggie Robles, the chief of neurosugery, wiped her tired brow as she finally emerged from the operating theater, the lingering scent of antiseptic clinging to her scrubs. Her latest surgery had been grueling, but successful. She managed a weary smile as she made her way to the hospital cafeteria, her footsteps heavy with exhaustion.

As she settled into one of the vacant chairs, she was greeted by the eager faces of her interns, each one offering words of admiration and gratitude for her skillful leadership in the OR. Maggie appreciated their enthusiasm, but her mind was already drifting to the next case, the next challenge awaiting her.

Just as she began to pick at her food, her son and a first year medical intern Dr. Alvaro Robles, approached her with a warm smile. "Mama!" he greeted, sliding into the seat across from her. "Mind if I join you for lunch?"

Maggie's tired eyes brightened at the sight of her son. "Hello, anak! Of course. Sit down," she replied, setting aside her fork to give him her full attention.

"How was your surgery?" Alvaro asked, concern etched in his voice as he reached for a sandwich from the tray.

Maggie sighed wearily, running a hand through her hair. "Long and challenging, as usual. But we managed to pull through in the end," she answered, a hint of pride in her tone.

"Oh, wow. That's why ngayon ka pa lang mag-lunch." Alvaro said, relief evident in his expression.

"Yep. After this, I'll undergo another major surgery later. Mag-wash up lang si Mom then proceed na ulit. How about you? How are you?" she smiles.

"I've been swamped with my own duties today. It's been non-stop since this morning, pero nasasanay naman na ako." Alvaro answered, munching his favorite salad from a convenience store.

Maggie nodded sympathetically, knowing all too well the demands of internship. "It's tough, but it's all part of the learning process. You're doing great," she encouraged, offering him a reassuring smile.

Alvaro returned her smile gratefully, his fatigue momentarily forgotten in the warmth of his mother's support. "Thanks, Mom. I needed to hear that," he admitted, taking a bite of his sandwich.

"E, balita ko nga, magaganda ang feedbacks ng mga doctors sa iyo at sa team mo."

Alvaro's face lit up, "Thank you, Ma."

"Keep it like that, ha, anak. Lagi naman kaming proud ni Dad sa'yo."

As Alvaro shared the details of his day with his mother, he couldn't contain his excitement about a particular moment. "Nga pala, Ma, I have to tell you about something that happened today," he said eagerly, a spark of pride in his eyes.

Maggie leaned in, curious. "Tell me."

"During the bowel surgery we have this morning, Dr. Sumayo was the assisting surgeon. And afterward, he pulled me aside and said I did a great job," Alvaro recounted, a hint of disbelief mingling with his excitement.

Maggie's face lit up with pride at her son's achievement. "Haneeep! Alam mo bang ang Ninong Iñigo mo ay one of the best sa kaniyang field? Getting praise from him is no small feat," she exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine happiness for her son.
