Ava's Perspective

The morning sun pierced through my window like a relentless alarm clock, dragging me out of bed and into the harsh reality of another school day. With a groan, I stumbled through my morning routine, barely awake enough to remember my name.

As I trudged towards school, my mind wandered off. I definitely did not get enough sleep last night. I had to unpack and all that. It was suchhhh a pain

Lost in my thoughts, I almost collided with a guy standing by the school gates. He had sandy blond hair and a smirk that screamed troublemaker. "Watch it, newbie," he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

I rolled my eyes, too tired to deal with whatever drama he was peddling. "Yeah, yeah, whatever," I muttered, sidestepping him and making my way into the school building.

Classes dragged on like a snail on a salted trail, each minute feeling like an eternity of boredom. By the time lunch rolled around, I was ready to crawl under my desk and take a nap.

But fate had other plans.

As I made my way to the cafeteria, I caught a glimpse of someone standing by the lockers. He was tall, with dark hair and a scowl played on his face. For a moment, our eyes met, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

But before I could figure out who he was or why he looked so familiar, the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch. With a sigh, I turned away, determined to put the encounter out of my mind.

Little did I know, fate had one more surprise in store for me.

In English class, I found myself drifting off into la-la land, my mind a million miles away from the droning voice of the teacher. Before I knew it, I was being shaken awake by the guy sitting next to me.

"Psst, wake up!" he whispered urgently, nudging me with his elbow.

I blinked, disoriented and annoyed. "What?"

The teacher shot us a withering glare from the front of the room. "Miss, would you care to join us in the land of the living?"

I blinked again, realizing too late that she was addressing me. "Um, yeah. Sorry."

The teacher's expression softened, but only slightly. "Perhaps you'd like to share with the class what's so fascinating that you can't seem to keep your eyes open?"

I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment as the eyes of my classmates turned towards me. "Uh, no. Sorry, it won't happen again."

The teacher sighed, clearly unimpressed. "See to it that it doesn't."

As the class resumed, I sank lower in my seat, mortified by the attention. How could I have been so careless?

"Listen, Ava, I heard that you're a musician, right?"

I blinked in surprise, caught off guard by Skyler talking to me. "Yeah, why do you ask?"

A mischievous grin tugged at the corners of Skyler's lips as he leaned in conspiratorially. "Well, you're in luck," he whispered, his voice tinged with excitement. "Because I happen to be in a band, and we're on the lookout for a new guitarist."

My heart skipped a beat at his words, a rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins as the possibilities danced before me. The idea of joining a band had always been a dream of mine, and the prospect of collaborating with Skyler and his group ignited a spark of excitement within me.

"Really?" I exclaimed, unable to contain the excitement bubbling within me. "That's amazing! When do you guys usually practice?"

Skyler's grin widened, his eyes alight with enthusiasm as he sensed my eagerness. "Tonight. We're holding auditions for a new member to come by and try out."

A surge of adrenaline shot through me at the mere thought, igniting a fire within me that had long lay dormant. My fingers tingle with anticipation, itching to strum the strings of my guitar once more and lose myself in the melody of possibility. "I'd love to!" I exclaimed, my voice trembling with excitement. "What time should I be there?"

"Seven o'clock," Skyler replied, his grin widening into a full-fledged smile. "Don't be late. We're excited to hear what you've got."

As he spoke, a rush of exhilaration surged through me, propelling me forward into the unknown with a sense of purpose and determination.  And with Skyler's invitation echoing in my ears, I knew that tonight would be the beginning of a new chapter in my musical journey.

With a nod of thanks, I headed inside the school, my mind buzzing with anticipation. Tonight was shaping up to be one hell of a ride.

When the final bell rang, I bolted from the classroom, my heart pounding in my chest. With Skyler's words echoing in my mind. I got to the location Skyler had mentioned

When I arrived, the room was alive with the sound of music, a cacophony of instruments blending together in perfect harmony. Skyler stood at the center of it all, his grin wide and infectious.

"There you are, Ava! We were starting to think you chickened out."

I gave him a half-hearted glare, my nerves threatening to get the better of me. "Yeah, well, better late than never, right?"

Skyler laughed, clapping me on the back. "That's the spirit! Now grab your guitar and show us what you've got."

With a deep breath, I stepped onto the stage, my hands trembling as I picked up my guitar. This was it. My moment to shine.

And as I launched into the first chords of the song, the doubts and fears melted away, replaced by a sense of purpose and passion that burned brighter than ever before. This was where I belonged. This was where I was meant to be.

And no amount of embarrassment or uncertainty could stand in my way.
